This week stinks without W&M basketball. Bring on St. Joe's! Anyone else going to the game?

#$%$#@@5%@#@$% paywall !!

I don't suppose anyone can cut-and-paste the article into a post, for those of us who don't subscribe to ESPN+?

Sorry Zorch I didn't even realize. If I get a thumbs up from Tribal, I'll post the relevant part here.

Edit, here is the W&M section:

Dane Fischer, William & Mary Tribe: There were eyebrows raised across the industry last spring when the Tribe fired longtime coach Tony Shaver, despite finishing fourth in the CAA and going above .500 in the league the past six seasons. Fischer, a former George Mason assistant, was tabbed to take over, and he has done well thus far. The Tribe won at Wofford, beat Old Dominion and hung tough at Oklahoma before falling by five. They'll compete near the top of a wide-open league this season.

Another advantage to ESPN+ as a conference, we'd get to see all the paywall articles too

Thanks! It occurred to me later that maybe there are copyright infringement issues with just cutting-and-pasting. Probably okay to just quote relevant passages, though, I hope.

good story. thanks for sharing.

Definitely like that the new FB and MBB coaches are out and about more on campus.

Change is tough especially when the coach has been here forever but these are good examples of why it is needed. Dane has been awesome and will lead us to the Dance before he moves up in coaching.

Delaware played #20 Villanova tough losing 78-70. Darling scored 29 points and hits deep 3's and is averaging 21+ pts per game and hitting 47% of his FG for season. Beginning with their next game they have two big men- former Nova player Painter at 6'10" who becomes eligible plus d Gross at 6'11", Also they have Anderson at PG 6'5" who is quick along with averaging 14 pts per game. They are a tough match up for us and maybe the elite team in CAA based on performance to date IMO.

RE: 2019-2020 MBB Season
Watching Northeastern struggle, initially, against an Eastern Michigan zone tonight, I couldn't help but wonder if Dane and staff have added any zone wrinkles to the repertoire, in the event we need a defensive game changer somewhere along the line. Considering that Syracuse historically has used zone defenses to their advantage with their height and length, it would be interesting to see the effect of playing Mehkel with Nate and Andy in a 1-3-1 zone. I would imagine having Nate and Andy on the wings and Mehkel in the middle with any combination of one of our bigger guards/wings under the basket would present a very formidable change of pace. It would not hurt us on the offensive end, as Nate and Andy are, both, effective outside the post, and would make for a matchup nightmare. Just a fun hypothesis.

Nice little piece on the Tribe, from college insider. Suggests that we should be ranked in the first Mid Major Top 25 rankings.

We are just outside at 27 in the latest one (December 16). Delaware is at 15, Buffalo at 24, Wofford 29, and Hofstra with 2 points (around 45th-50th or so)

RE: 2019-2020 MBB Season
The Tribe was getting no votes a couple of weeks ago in this poll so great to already be up to #27. Preseason polls for the CAA are not meeting expectations with NE and Hofstra having challenges so great that we play them early this year as we finish our series with them in January. Our key home game is Delaware 2/15 which historically would be our GOLD RUSH game but do not see any info about it..
