RE: 2019-2020 MBB Season
Here are the notable rules changes for 2019 – 2020.

1. The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds on offensive rebounds. It was felt that it penalized teams that played good D, but missed the rebound, to give the offensive team 30 more seconds.

2. The biggest difference, this season, the NCAA is once again moving the 3-Point line further back, but this time by more than just a foot, 22’ 1 ¾”, except in the corners where it will be 21' 7 7/8".

3. With the latest game management change coaches will once again be allowed to call timeouts during live play (a return, in part, to the old rule), however, they can only be granted the timeout when their team has clear possession of the ball and when there are two minutes or less in the second half or overtime. This will allow coaches to be in more control during the most crucial parts of games.

4. The NCAA is making an addition to what constitutes as a Class A (unsportsmanlike conduct) technical. The rule states that any player or bench personal that makes personal comments/attacks “relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability during the game“ will be given a Class A technical.
*Regardless of whether or not this was already part of the rules, I’m sure that referees were already assessing Technical Fouls for this violation.

5. Starting this season, players can now be given a Class B technical (technical foul that results in only 1 free throw) for flopping or exaggerating a foul. Each team will be given one team warning before the refs will start giving technical fouls for this.
This rule change may be the change with the most effect. How will refs call the block/charge and where will the line be drawn on what is a flop and what is a charge??

It all starts Tuesday.

Close. Didnt think it could get worse. Really been underwhelmed by UnderArmour's options. I hope its not our AD choosing this stuff - Then Id be on board with ditching her05-stirthepot

RE: 2019-2020 MBB Season
Yeah, the unis are standard UA format. We were better attired across most (can't speak for all) sports when we were with Nike.

Billymac, does the Class B technical rule mean that when they went to the replay to check whether UVA should have gotten a technical for a blow to the head of Chase last year, they would have called the technical on him instead of simply overturning the foul call? (Still my favorite play from last year, even with the overturn)

Why do we care so much about uniforms?

Dont need the trash-talkers to have extra ammo.
Look good, feel good. Dress for success. Arent there a million phrases about this?

Deion said it best...Huge should listen up...

"If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good."

Unfortunate, but he must accomplish his most important goal this season- graduation. Wishing him the best in getting things right.

Basketball wise, it opens the door for more opportunities for the young players. Next man up.

He has two years to go. I just hope he makes it out of this semester to remain eligible.

That sucks ... all the best to Jihar.

We're gonna need some young guys to step up, but will probably just be rolling with a 8 man rotation anyway as if the starters are healthy and are: Barnes, Loewe, Hamilton, VV, and Knight and the bench guys getting run would probably be Scott, Harvey, and Blair with maybe some Rainers in there and one of the other freshman.

Shaver experimented a ton prior to Conference play with lineups; I actually would prefer to see us settle in on the rotation earlier and roles earlier (which could obviously change due to a variety of reasons throughout the season) to get rhythm and chemistry and hit the conference season running and growing together instead of then defining the roles.

Dane has said he expects us to grow throughout the season and get better and I agree. If we play hard nosed D and efficient offense that will keep us in a lot of games, and Knight is a special player who can dominate every night. If the chemistry is as good as it seems who knows what'll happen this year as we grow together.

Go Tribe! Excited to see the live action beginning tonight.

Not to make too much of it, but "out indefinitely" seems like a weird wording - makes me wonder if this is more than just grades. Also a weird time to suddenly find out about a grade issue.

Either way.. perhaps it opens up the opportunity for a redshirt year if that's mutually desired by the team and Williams.

My assumption is that his mid-term grades were bad enough to make him ineligible second semester unless he rights the ship. A redshirt would be interesting and make Loewe the only senior on the team next year.

I was expecting a breakout season from him. I hope he takes care of academics and re-join the team.

GW must really stink this year. Towson is a 7 point favorite tonight.

I’m pulling for Jihar. Sad not to see him on the bench last night for the beginning of this new phase.

Heard from some friends that Dane has been going to Fraternity/Sorority chapter meetings to try and increase student interest in the team. Seems like a good move
