No matter what the excuse. You can't go 0fer in conference and only win 4 games all year in your third year. Especially in a Top 6 conference. Half your team could have been eaten by dinosaurs. Doesn't matter

Phil Martelli is now available for the taking. Maybe he can bring Dunphy along.

Please don't hire Andy Kennedy. We don't need another mediocre coach in the conference. Tulane will be destined for more years of the worst in the league with Kennedy as coach.

You are right. I heard that 5 of their 7 season ticket holders said they were done.

I think Tulane needs to think local. Go with a proven HS coach with deep recruiting ties. New Orleans doesn't have the strongest HS BBall track record, but they do send a number of players to D1 schools. Barely any of those players consider Tulane. If Tulane could start to consistently get the best of the best players from the region, they could be a NIT/CBI team yearly and probably a every 3 or 4 year NCAA team. It doesn't make any sense to go after big name coaches cause they will have similar results as Dunleavy. Tulane has somehow gotta tap into it's local market, establish some kinda tradition with the city, and be a yearly 20 win team before they can go after any kinda big name or up and coming coach. Right now, Tulane is where a coach goes to kill his career.

My thought is that Tulane needs a Coach that can recruit Nationally (Kids that can meet admission standards but yet play ball) and International Players (International players seem to place a higher value on education).

A Coach with local ties will basically repeat what Dunleavy did this year.

A Coach that can identify talent.

I don't know. None of the top players from the region ever consider Tulane. Locals and Tulane are almost like oil and water. Tulane needs to upgrade its reputation with locals. Right now, Tulane is seen as "them rich kids Uptown" and has near non-existent fanbase outside of alumni. I think they can always get the international kids, and smart low ranked players based on the academic standing, but the missing piece for Tulane is the 3* local kids that make up the core of the team.

But I guess, you really can't do any worse than Dunleavy did there.

If not Pitino, Tulane should target Matta (and crush UNLV's dreams).

I now understand why Tulane bought out the Dunleavy contract. It would be wise to go young with this hire.

Rick at Tulane would end in arrests being made.

Welp Tulane, I think the perfect situation might be falling in you guys lap as far as coaches. Looks like Avery Johnson is getting canned at Alabama. He was born and raised in New Orleans, does a decent job at recruiting, is still beloved in the city, and is an okay X/O's guy.

Our fanbase doesn't like him. I also don't think an NBA guy is a good idea for Tulane after what we just experienced.

Brice Drew just canned at Vandy. Think he would be better option than Johnson.

Who do you think you guys are gonna go after? Young up and comer, or seasoned vet?

Bama currently has a Top 20 2019 class. Perhaps Tulane gets a couple Top 100 recruits to tag along with Avery.

This is a good shout. He knows what it's like to have to coach at a small southern private school.
