Shawn Occeus just added his name to the transfer portal, also. Makes you wonder if Coen has accepted another job and just not announced yet.

Just to be picky, but is he transferring or he's "in the portal".

Like I mentioned in another thread, I wonder if this portal is creating a "new normal" where kids go in there kind of like when they "declare for the draft".
It all plays into the theory of midmajors becoming a farm system for P5 programs. The transfer portal and the loosening of hardship waivers all grease the process.

Also, there are SO MANY P5 and solid jobs open this year. Not surprising that Coen's name would be in the mix.
CAA could really take it on the chin with talent loss, if all do leave.

Gresham I can understand as a grad transfer, but Occeus is puzzling, unless something else going on. If Coen is not leaving and Occeus just entered the portal to see what was out there, I would not take him back.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
This is the first year of the transfer portal. Seems the players have no downside to test their talents if they qualify as a grad transfer. It may become the new norm and if so coaches will need to rethink strategy of the development plan of their recruits the same way the big time coaches had to adept to the one and done of freshmen who are NBA talent.

The Portal has over 400 players in it already and we have not played the Sweet 16 games!

With the uncharacteristicly poor effort by Northeastern players in their NCAA 1st round, again, you have to wonder what's going on, regardless of the new transfer portal.

Is there somewhere on-line that lists every player in the portal?

They just added 11 players in the last 15 minutes alone.

How about UMKC Men's Basketball that has 10 players in the Transfer portal?

Truly this is a change from what we would expect to see before this system!

CAA MBB Transfers - 2019
Being so new, it will be interesting to see when all is done how many of the 400+ players actually leave their current programs.

They really need to do something about this transfer portal. Otherwise, we might as well just separate the mid-majors and power conference schools into separate levels. It is getting to the point that college basketball just needs to cease its existence and just have a developmental league for all high schoolers that want to play professionally

FR 6’4” G Omar Silverio is transferring from Rhode Island to Hofstra. He appeared in 28 games this year, averaging 7.8 minutes a game.

We will find out what needs to be done when there's at least a full year of the transfer portal existing and we find out how many actually move. IMO, nothing needs to be done. Players having the ability to gives them some leverage back in case they make a bad decision and/or get lied to in recruiting.

I'm on the other end of it. Make it to where if they enter the transfer protocol, they have to forfeit their scholarship at the previous school and make the players determine whether the risk is worth it. Guarantee you will see the transfer portal numbers cut down by a lot.
