The 2018 version of GS could easily be 6-6. The OLine is close to awful and our defense is responsible for the successful turnaround from a horrible coaching hire in 2016 as evidenced by an incredible turnover margin. We have very talented skill players on offense - meaning runners and the play-action pass can produce a quick 6 if the defense sells out to stop the run.

I'm glad EMU had a good season. Your coach seems like a good guy and a winner. I think this game is a pick 'em.

Thats pritty harsh EagleCliff. If you look at the majority of my posts on this site you will find that they have information about GSU with a tad of Smack.

I gave them GSU's Background in FBS (good & bad)
I told the EW posters about the first 5 years of GSU becoming an FBS G5 team under HC Fritz, moving to the Pistol Option offense & they were a great 2 first years. I told them that GSU played very poorly after HC Fritz left and had 3 different head coaches in the next 2
years.

GSU is further along then expected and talked about the O & D

I also stated that our current HC has turned the program around, is 9-3 & gotten GSU to a bowl this year. Most GSU fans thought it would take at least 2 years to turn around the program, including me, and that GSU was further along than expected. While our Defense has been very good our offense has been up and down. Which I hope next year will be more consistent.

Many boards have a designated trash talk board as does http://www.gsufans.com. The EM board does not. So I have mixed in Fact with a small amount of smack. Please note I do not use profanity
& the little trash I throw in has not been over the top.

Cliff is right about when GSU was FCS. The majority of FCS teams like to mix it up more, but then again GSC was in FCS for a long time & loved to hate us.

FACT about winning or losing
Weather GSU wins or losses I ALWAYS go back to the opponents board and congratulate them. I don't talk trash to the opponent after the game.

Does that sound about right Cliff?

I know you've been doing the smack schtick for a long time and it's in good fun for you. It's also a different culture now than the early 90s with southern connection. A lot of people on these boards may not get the humor in what you do.

One thing I am finding out from reading this thread:
I think the stereotypes that people in the south are obsessed with football has some basis to it.

In any case, it should be a good game. Looking forward to it!!!!

Football is about the only way the South gets to beat the rest of the country in anything. We're at the bottom in income, education, and health.

Noticed about 18 Southerners on EMU roster as well as several Europeans and Canadians - interesting.

I'm going to abide by this boards unofficial rules and not go into politics. But boy could I...

Man, you guys are on top of football, huh? Canadians are not that far from EMU, though there is typically only a token player or two from there. Ohio is probably the biggest recruiting area outside of MI (Ohio is a football factory). But, yes EMU will take the best players available to them nationwide.

We're very fortunate to be where we are geographically. Lots of good football players Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama. Our scheme historically allows us to compete by not recruiting the same metrics as Pro-style teams.

If you want to find lots of quality HS football players, go south. There are exceptions, but the South sends a disproportionate number of guys to Div I and to the NFL.

Any guesses of how many of you fine Ypsilantians will be making the trek south? We have a few buses chartered out of Atlanta and Statesboro/Savannah, one of them being paid for by our Country Music alum Cole Swindell. Should have a great contingent.

Tell the EMUs to come to the Aviator Bar. That's where GS fans will be.

Does anyone have a parking spot in Lot E? That appears to be the only lot where tailgating is allowed/available?

The EMU bars on Friday are The Exchange Bar and then the AlleyBar. Not sure where those are.

Unfortunately I won't get into Montgomery until around midnight Friday, so I'll miss all the fun.

For those of us jackholes that are unable to make trip, are there any good watch parties in Ypsi? BDubs had a good one two years ago. I'm also working a connection to Tower Inn to see if they'll have something going.

Thanks Frank. I guess I was hoping the book store or somewhere in town would have something as opposed to buying online

I bought a Bahamas Bowl tee shirt at the book store a few years back. I would expect to see them available in January. Season ticket holders recently got an email for free tee shirts, I expect they will be Camellia Bowl related.
