Hey... I despise UCF as much as the next Herd fan. That being said, they are stirring the schit pot and making the committee look stupid. I love schit stirrers. Let em have at it!

And though they did beat Auburn, who beat both Georgia and Alabama (and beat both by double digits I might add), we remind each other over and over that victories in sports aren't transitive - we can't just use that when it suits us and dismiss it when it doesn't. The Boise State comments are also relevant here as well.

Nevertheless, on behalf of UCF and G5 programs in general, I just see this as the Knights' way of doing this to the NCAA...

So I don't really take issue with it, but I also think there's a point at which they need to let it go.

To be honest, if Alabama didn't back into the CFP the way they did, none of this would be as big a deal as it was. I personally don't think we had the resume to get in the CFP over teams like Ohio State or USC and such, but at the same time, neither did Alabama, AND they lost to our bowl opponent.

This was never about claiming a national championship, this was about shining a spotlight on the inadequacies of the system. Everything that has led up to now (parades, banners, rings, coaching staff bonuses, etc) has come from going all in with the strategy and daring the CFP to blink first (even if they pretend to not look at us)

much like the 'P6' thing it's just smart marketing. I mean, here it is in the middle of April and y'all are talking about UCF and the AAC. THAT is the point.

HogDawg saw how slow and unathletic that SMU team was, and UCF beat them by 1 touchdown. So were going say UCF deseves to be in the top 4 for beating a whole bunch of AAC teams like SMU without any ranked P5 teams.

Meanwhile the other 4 teams played multiple ranked teams, Clemson beat Auburn, Louisville, Florida State ( a team that absolutely crushed Southern Miss in bowl) Miami all ranked teams at the time.

Without those wins against Ranked P5 opponents, UCF has no claim to be included in the top 4. Remember Boise beat top 10 ranked P5 teams when it had its #2 ranking. UCF had none of that.

Expand the playoff to 8 and UCF could make a case to be included, but there has been better undefeated G5 teams such as Boise that have never made that lame claim.

BTW, I like UCF and most its fans. Just dont see the point to claiming something when you dont have half the resume as the other teams that were included. Expand the playoff to 8 teams

It’s lame.

Boise State finished 13-0, beat a higher rank team in a BCS bowl and finished higher than UCF in the final AP poll but they didn’t claim to be National Champs.

UCF you are not the only team to go undefeated, you are not champs, never will be, and nobody recognize you as champs besides the UCF community.

Maybe they saw it as marketing ploy to bring attention instead it just made them into laughing stock of college athletics.

The above post is a great example of the stupidity and absurdity that currently exists within the G5. (Yes, I know he claims to be a LA Tech fan. But he's still an idiot for posting that. He's just our idiot.) 03-banghead

Most G5 fans --including Dawgxas-- gripe and complain about the unfair P5 system because it mostly excludes G5 schools from receiving a fair chance to participate in the official playoff system. And yet, when an undefeated G5 finally wins a New Year's Day Bowl against a team (Auburn) that had already beaten both participants in the "real" NC earlier this season, the G5 haters turn on their own.

It's no wonder the P5 folks don't respect the G5's, and don't want us participating in their little playoff system. 07-coffee3

Thats has nothing to do with it, those are all external factors. Instead of speaking from emotion use your head.

Compare the resumes of the top 4 in the playoff with UCF resume. Do you think they shoild have been included? of course not.

If Tech would have went indefeated beating 2 P5 teams that were ranked at some point in the season, our resume would have been much stronger than UCF.

Keep in mind, UCF played their entire season sans the FIU game without a bye week, due to Hurricane Irma. By that point the team was running on fumes, especially the defense.

That sounds exactly like what the Cartel would want you to think. Why do they have to be ranked P5 wins? If we had beaten Mississippi State instead of Memphis, would it have been a better win? How do you expect to value your conference slate if no matter how good those teams are, they'll never be as good as a P5 game?

I don't think any UCF fan would argue we should have been in the CFP over more deserving teams. We just argue we should have been in before Alabama.

And that's on them for not taking advantage of a situation like this.

I'm not a fan of what UCF is doing. All of the conferences signed off on the playoff format. No, I don't like the playoff format, but they did agree to it.

I will say, I think Urban Meyer's 2004 Utah team has a better claim then UCF. the '04 Utes beat Texas A&M, Arizona, BYU, and North Carolina, before embarrassing Big East Champ Pitt 35-7 in the Fiesta Bowl.

USC, Auburn, and Utah were the only teams to finish undefeated that year. USC beat Oklahoma 55-19 in the BCS title game, but was forced to vacate the win and BCS Championship due to cheating. Auburn eked out a 16-13 win over 2 loss Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. In my opinion, Utah was the best legitimate undefeated team that season.

lol, Get real man, Alabama cruised through the SEC schedule dominating ranked SEC teams in the home stadiums. They lose 1 game to in-state rival Auburn at Jordan-Hare stadium.

Remember Auburn beat Georgia and Alabama at Jordan-Hare. I think some ya'll really dont realize how much home turf matters. Especially at Jordan-Hare, I would put that in 7-10 point range. If you ever been there you how unreal loud and crazy it gets.

Ranked SEC teams? Like the Tennessee team that went winless in conference? Or what about LSU and Mississippi State who each had 4 losses? Alabama's schedule was joke this year, and meritted no more inclusion in the CFP than UCF did.

Yes Alabama schedule was a joke and playing at Neyland, Jordan-Hare, Death Valley and Davis Wade is the same as playing at Moody Stadium in front 12k rabid fans.

Alabama won an invitational tournament. I'm not sure how that would be considered a "National Championship". In basketball terms, is the winner of the CIT or NIT a National Champion?

UCF ran the table. In basketball terms, they would have gotten into the National Championship Tourney. I think UCF has a legitimate claim.

Embarrassed? Hardly. Good for them. I am more embarrassed that a program USM was ahead of at one time has left us in the dust.

The SOS argument is out the door when Wisconsin was in the top 4 towards the end of the season.

Edit Gerald Ford Stadium but you get the point. Alabama played a schedule ranked 6th compared to UCF 63rd schedule according to SOS polls.

And Alabama played at much larger stadiums with louder and more hostile fans than UCF and yet UCF fans believe they should be included over Alabama.

There is not ounce of validity to that

Yep. UCF's football game guarantees at SEC opponents will go down about $500K/game going forward. The NCAA infractions committee will have to start investigating them if they don't get back in line with the rest of the G5s.
