So I don't really take issue with it, but I also think there's a point at which they need to let it go.

To be honest, if Alabama didn't back into the CFP the way they did, none of this would be as big a deal as it was. I personally don't think we had the resume to get in the CFP over teams like Ohio State or USC and such, but at the same time, neither did Alabama, AND they lost to our bowl opponent.

This was never about claiming a national championship, this was about shining a spotlight on the inadequacies of the system. Everything that has led up to now (parades, banners, rings, coaching staff bonuses, etc) has come from going all in with the strategy and daring the CFP to blink first (even if they pretend to not look at us)

It was a brilliant move on UCF’s part and i don’t blame them for a second. The selection committee really screwed college football up this past year, letting us all know the following:

1. If you aren’t p5 you have no chance of making the final four
2. It isn’t worth it to schedule good OOC games(Ohio state and auburn are prime examples of that)
3. Conference championships mean jack
4. The world famous eye test is officially alive in college football

If UCF was actually going to claim this, I believe the needed to go all in like they did. Congrats on a great season, and a great decision by your athletic department.

everyone hating on ucf doesnt get it ..ucf is currently the only force with legitimate traction pushing for a playoff expansion and causing a debate about it...

In a few years it will not be impossible for a c-usa team to win a national championship.....and that will be in part because of ucf....there is legitimate debate about how unfair the system is and thats becuase of ucf

if you actually listened to ANY interview with UCF's AD or president....they aren't talking about how they are true national champions over bama...almost every interview they do they talk about how we play in a system where half the teams have no chance of a national title...how it is time to expand the playoff to 8...

people who dont understand: this is embarrassing they legitimately think they won a nation championship
people who understand: they are actually pushing for change , and using whatever means to draw attention to bring dialogue

what really bother me is listening to people who hate their claim, and that makes me realize why i support it...they either dont understand no team worth a damn in the g5 can get an elite ooc schedule....or they basically say be happy with your second class citizenship, no matter how good you are, if you reach for more you are an embarrassment

but if you listen closely enough ucf is bringing progress: on a espn special talking about this: they all said ucf isnt the national champ, they all said ucf shouldnt have been in the playoff, but they all agreed that ucf was ranked absurdly too low, and started talking about the rankings of g5....no big change comes over night...that is progress and ucf is making us take the 1st step

if ucf accepts its second class citizen award and thanks slave master, that discussion isnt had..no one would talk about how the committee had 12-0 ucf under 8-4 Mississippi state .. this conversation isnt supposed to be comfortable ..there is no taking it too far when pushing for change (especially when half of them still dont seem to get it)

As you can see we have some deep-rooted SEC fans on this board. They lack objectivity and are quite happy with the existing division of the FBS "Division" of NCAA football.

So the American has both football and basketball national champions, pretty solid.

I like that they're claiming it and there's no reason for them not to do so. It makes everyone question what is a broken system.

Objectivity and speaking from place of pure emotion with no valid facts. What about realism?
In what world does the 63rd rated schedule deserve to be in front of the 6th rated schedule? They have no leg to stand on. As others pointed out there have been better undefeated teams with much tougher schedules that haven't made some dubious claim.

BTW I have never rooted for SEC or any P5 team, and have been Tech fan as long as I can remember

I love it! Cannot see how anyone in our conference would call this an embarrassment.......They beat Auburn and the way they were playing you cannot tell me they couldn't have beaten Oklahoma or Washington last season or Clemson this year.....Clemson was all smoke and mirrors....They were shut out of even being in the discussion of final four teams which is an embarrassment to college football. Pus UCF gives hope to all of us one day.....

UCF and all of our schools can't get to indignant, though. After all, the g5 signed up voluntarily to be at the kids table.
