I would put my money on the facilities. Miami is serious about having football and basketball pay for their athletic investment.

If EMU were to win the MAC west title next year, the disappointment of CMU and WMU would only be exceeded by the EMU faculty. That's the issue.

I thought this might happen. There is an alumnus using Twitter to tell football recruits not to come to EMU. He posts pictures of a mostly empty Rynearson and tells them about our incompetent administration.

Fmr. EMU wrestler gone nuclear against his school?
My guess is that it shouldn't and won't work. CC has to be straight up and say 4 Olympic sports have been cut and it does not in any way effect EMU FB (and may actually help, as Luckeyone suggests the athletic department budget might have a little more breathing room).
Also as Luckeyone has indicated, once shovels are in the ground then "The sky is falling" mantra will be shown to be fake news posting.
I would suggest to CC that he indicate that a lot of MAC schools have cut Olympic sports. We certainly aren't the the first, and won't be the last.

Not to say this had any impact on his decision. Miami is killing it in recruiting. But I agree this is to be expected. Once student athletes move on, this will settle down.

I've seen this stuff. Someone tipped me off to it but I saw no reason to get into dirt.
I hope a football player considering EMU is smart enough not to listen to some posting from athletes from ANOTHER school. Or sour grapes where faced with the loss of something, e.g., their sport, they go nuclear.
Once again, I'll repeat my point: Once recruits see 'shovels in the ground' they'll see, with their eyes, that things are getting BETTER, not worse, for EMU FB. If they believe an Internet poster (and Internet posters can be the biggest a**holes in the world, it is caveat emptor, out there on the Internet) over what they see, hear from coaches and EMU players, etc. then they are totally lacking critical thinking and judgement skills one would hope college students would have.
Kind of getting off target, but those recruits should look at the EMU campus, what is planned to be completed during their 4 years, look at the West Campus athletic facilities and decide for themselves if they can find something better... Ditto for hoops. Most D-I arena (51% or more) are not as nice as our Convo. CC, Murphy, Castro, etc. have nothing to apologize for.

RE: 2019 Football Recruiting
It won't bother those kids. They get all kinds of tweets from fans of schools telling them to avoid X school, or that Y school is terrible, and are told by their high school coaches/mentors to ignore it. They understand.
And by the way, it's only a handful of kids being receiving these tweets. Most being recruited by EMUFB are not getting it. I can see most are only getting congratulatory tweets from their friends (not saying who/where, but they are missing most recruits).

Good point. Lot of folks out there with agendas (I hope a lot of 3-*** players come to EMU and CMU fans hope they don't... ) and recruits are used to it.
I think, rather than be dour, that EMU has MORE, not less, to offer these recruits then we did a few years ago.
In the past, we lost out of athletes interested in engineering, for example, because we didn't have those programs. Now we will and will have better classrooms for them.
CC can tell it like it is: EMU athletics had to prune some branches to strengthen the tree. The fact that the CBP is going forward and EMU is going forward with other exciting academic and intramural projects shows a U which is really trying to grow and meet the current and future needs of its students.

What I saw came from an alumnus. That almost certainly carries more weight than something coming from another school.

RE: 2019 Football Recruiting
To counter the negative/jealous tweets, all if us should follow EMU football so that we can send each football recruit candidate a "Congratulations on your EMU offer, and good luck with your decision. Go Eagles"
Chris Creighton said positive tweets do impact recruiting so there you go. I think a harmless congratulatory tweet takes 5 seconds and if the young adults love it, then so be it.
