RE: EMU Board of Regents December 2019 Meeting
I see the words 'Major gifts' mentioned significantly in the minutes suggesting new gifts and possible gifts.
Simple math indicates that to get 100K, one can get 100 donors to donate $1,000 each OR one donor to donate 100K (or obviously some combination of big and small donations).
This is where success on the gridiron and things like bowl games help infuse pride in the university and help motivate givers to make donations.
This is a story worth following... Especially as we know that a big gift was already made for golf.

Back in the mid-90's when I worked in the development office at EMU, major gifts were defined as gifts of $10,000 or larger. That may have been upgraded since then. Some of the big programs (i.e. Wayne State, Michigan) go as high as a minimum of $25,000 to $100,000 to qualify as a major gift.
Regardless of the minimum amount, though, your point is on spot in that success on the field can impact success in securing larger donations. It's as much the influence of institutional pride as it is having confidence in those leading the athletics programs.

Also noted in the documents is that another former football player has joined the Department of Public Safety.
There have been several who have joined either DPS or the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office.
