RE: 2017 Football Schedule
A positive is the last three games The Tribe will spend Friday nights in Williamsburg.
I am hoping Shon red shirts his fresh year to adapt and grow into being a complete college player. Now, if he turns out to be the best then by all means, start him. Do not forget Battle was highly sought out of high school also and has pretty good in scrimmages and spring game.

Ahhh, let the QB debate begin !

Count me as someone aboard the Shmitchell Express. If he's as good as advertised I think he should start as a true freshman.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
As fans we are impatient. We love our team, we get excited at the opportunity ahead. Every season feeds our desires. I totally get the infatuation with new players entering our program.

If any player rises to the occasion, he should be awarded with the position. If a player demonstrates the physical and mental capacity to produce on the field at a high level, he should play. He should play regardless of time at WM and whether or not the player is a walk on or scholarship.

Many on this board are ready to pass the baton to the new guy. I remember the transfer of Jalen Christian last summer. Jalen is an enormously talented player, gifted. A 4* player out of HS. A year of experience in an SEC program. Jalen will no doubt play a huge factor in the success of our program for the next 3 years. But even with all of that there was a transition that took time.

McKee has three years in the program, Battle two and Rotger one. Here's Shon with all of the attributes to be a great one. The QB that gets the nod will be because he won the position.

The fan in me wishes we find a good one or even two this spring and summer. From September 30th on we will need depth at every position. We need a two deep that sees little drop off. This roster is very capable of 8-9 wins and playoffs.

2017 Football Schedule
We were incredibly lucky to have the stability we had at QB over the last three years. Prior to that injuries plagued us under center. Having a few capable QBs is a great thing; pushes competition in practice and leaves us with options if there's an injury. McKee, Battle, and Rotger give us different options with experience, and Mitchell will be interesting with having Spring to settle into school and the offense. IF Mitchell winds up being chosen as the starter I wonder if Battle or Rotger think about transferring. I sincerely hope they don't, but if a true freshmen is chosen to start and they both have multiple years it may be considered.

Should we go ahead and retire Mitchell's jersey now? Can we get a discount on the statue if we pre-order it before he plays?

I'm taking bets. I say Rotger starts the season, barring injury.

I'm down for Mitchell, because he has named the offense "The Arsenal".

Given our history, I will also go with Rotger to start the season.

RE: 2017 Football Schedule
Rother is only going to be a redshirt Soph, right? So He has 3 years left.

With our history, Jimmie doesn't pull the trigger to make a switch quickly. If he starts then what would it take for Shon to get on the field barring injury? Would they redshirt Shon?

I know we haven't seen them battle yet, but I really don't want another Archer situation where the most talented/best QB on the roster only gets 1-2 years under center.

I have a feeling Rotger will be good while Shon's potential is to be great.

Should be interesting.

Low expectations. Both have no experience. I am willing to give them time to develop. Of course, if we play well at UVA on Sept 2, everybody will overreact and say we are going undefeated. I get that there is great reason for optimism, though.

I'm not sharing a cup of coffee with you if we're correct. I'll get my own cup, thank you very much.

Probably the Delaware/Richmond game will be Homecoming. I would take their schedule if we had 6 home games. Except for we always struggle at VA Tech who Delaware faces in September.

Ouch! What a crummy schedule Colgate has in '18 with five straight road games and only four at home.
One of the wilder games I ever saw played in Cary/ Zable was against Th'Gate in the mid '70s . The Tribe lost 49-42...we punted once. Colgate had a running back who later had a good career with the Oakland Raiders, Mark VanEegan (sp).
