And not eligible for the Bowl challenge cup because they didn't have 3 eligible teams.
Army should only get a half win for horrible PAT decisions and getting taken to overtime by an awful UNT because of it.

Other conference boards had the independent record.

"Should" is a hypothetical. A win is a win.

An 0-6 finish is highly probable for the MAC now. The MAC is overrated every year if you ask me.
This bowl season should really be an eye opener for some people.
I'd still like to see Western Michigan pull it off against Wisconsin. I have nothing against the MAC. They're every bit as overlooked in the Midwest press as the Sun Belt schools are in the Southern media, maybe even more so. I base that on five years of my 20's in Indiana.
Also, if Western Michigan, who lost to Georgia Southern just in 2015, can go 14-0 and win the Cotton Bowl against a really good Wisconsin team (who was very close to winning the Big Ten), it shows that there is hope that the same can happen for one of our schools. Who cares if the MAC gets a feather in their cap with a Broncos win? Good for them, and besides, it doesn't erase Troy or App's 10th victories of the season!
WMU will have their hands full; they're closer to Northern Illinois circa 2012 or even Hawaii 2007 than they are to one of those Utah, Boise, TCU, or Houston teams, but they've got a chance.

It probably won't last long, but I assure you nobody from the other G5 conferences is turning up their nose and dismissing the Sunbelt after this year's bowl performance. Would love to see USA get a final win to close out 5-1.
How much extra $$$ does all this actually mean for the conference and does that $$ get turned over to the school's or go into Benson's golf and travel budget?

I'm not sure, but I think it's about $2M more per spot for a G5 conference. So the difference between finishing 5th and 3rd could be ~$4M dollars for the conference which then gets distributed between members (I believe evenly in the case of the SBC). So $4M / 11 teams (does NMSU and Idaho get a share? if not divide by 9) = ~360K (or 445K)/school extra. Getting an Access bowl spot bumps you up an extra $6M.

I think WMU will give the badgers a much tougher game than a lot of people believe. Wisconsin doesn't want to be there, they went from a shot at the Rose bowl and playing USC to playing in the Cotton bowl against the MAC champion, I don't think they will be up for this game, and I think it will show with their play on the field..

It will likely work the opposite, having been a player in a locker room where we thought disrespected by outcome (playing against MAC champ) they will look to destroy WMU.

I think your right. But I do just want to note my opinion that it might not matter much even if they were "up" for this game because I think WMU can take them anyway. I just hate when fans of those p5 programs use that as an excuse for when they get best by one of us. Or the moronic "played down to the competition" hog wash.

I'm more worried about the Big 12. ACC still has a bunch of games left. The Big 12 has only two, and they are favored in both. Georgia leads TCU by 1 in the 4th quarter, but if Georgia loses., that means we would need Auburn to beat Oklahoma to have a chance at the Cup, and I don't see Oklahoma losing that game.
