Maybe we should add that Los Angeles team, they seem pretty good and are beating stAte right now.

If you lean on Little Rock with the suggestion that I've said the Sun Belt should use for a while, that we may have to eventually require football to become a league member, the Trojans reaction would probably be to call the Missouri Valley and see whats up.
This isn't a knock on Little Rock at all, and is purely based on my own ignorance (so I'm admitting it before I even start):
But what value does Little Rock bring to the conference, aside from a travel partner for stAte?
I'm not advocating pushing them on anything, and I recognize right now Texas State brings two things: Jack and shyte (with Jack leaving town recently), but I'm just curious if there's a history in baseball or basketball I'm just unaware of.

Hi Rev. Little Rock made our conference millions of dollars last year in round ball.

To be honest with what they did last year more value than UTA and probably others.

Liberty = Giant can of worms this assembly of 12 public and comparably very liberal universities doesnt want to open. I recognize their money, facilities, size, and capability of competing, but i simply cannot imagine this league adding them unless the league is raided again and needs them just to survive and continue existing.

JMU would be more than a suitable alternative.

This is all hypothetical anyway. I would be fine with the league staying as it is over expanding just to get to 12.

The most likely way for expanding to 12 would make sense is if ESPN got so excited about the potential new additions, they are willing to make up the extra costs by paying millions extra for our CCG.

If the west wanted it bad enough, could see an invite for NMSU in the future.
Yes, please pull Marshall and USM from CUSA to Sun Belt You guys must really love your conference to do that to yourselves

Liberty just hired Ian McCaw, so they've scuttled any chance they may have had.

I think for the Sun Belt to ever reach in a more permanent level the achievements of the American or the MW, it has to reach a point where it's teams aren't in transition from starting up or even from FCS. I would assume the goal is to have teams where fanbasez are already established. If the league is constantly adding teams who just recently, or haven't even yet, established football programs, then the league will never be filled with teams with established fans. I do see JIM and UTA as exceptions. JMU because they are pretty much FBS-ready from a budget and facilities standpoint. UTA because they are already a league member. But adding schools like Wichita State, Missouri State, or Chattanooga, which either don't yet have programs, are in terrible shape as a program (like we need more of that), or simply don't have much of a fanbase to support the program, just would set the league back for no good reason.
The expansion candidates should be:
UT - Arlington (football)
Kennesaw State
West Florida
UNF or FGCU

some posters dont seem to realize just how small time those names all sound to the typical fan across the country. we are better off developing some lasting continuity with the members we have and after the conference has made somewhat of a name for itself maybe invite the best available candidate to ride our coattails. when the schools we have now have some cred. maybe an existing fbs team or two would consider a lateral move to the belt.
