Nice field of teams. Kill 'em Cajuns.

TXST used to routinely Have TT, UH, TCU and Rice on our schedule but they seem to not want us as much these days. Have Rice in a H/H and a 1 off with A&M & Baylor this year but none of the others (in the above tournament).

Edit was to clarify so I don't get accused of being wrong.

I've seen recent postings where TCU (Traver to injury) and Houston (Romero to suspension) lost weekend starters. Cajuns start the tournament with TCU but don't play Houston. They'll start with TCU on Friday, take on Texas Tech on Saturday, and finish with Rice on Sunday.

I agree

It's going to be a long season for 'skins and his hatred of the coaching staff. Can't wait for three months of clammoring for gorilla ball and harping on aggressive base running despite the fact that GS might have all of 3-4 guys who can consistently get the ball out of the infield.

And whose fault is that that we don't have guys that can hit the ball out of the infield? Hennon has proven time and time again to be a choke artist. Always beating teams we shouldn't (UGA), losing to teams we shouldn't (JU, UNF, etc).

He's over stayed his welcome, but per usual, he's one of the good ok boys of Statesboro and isn't likely to leave anytime soon

Criticism of recruiting is fair. There is no shortage of elite prep talent within half a day's drive from Statesboro. But I think GS has performed at or above its talent level most years.

I think that some GS fans are jaded by the fact that we had our most prestigious home run hitting teams in the two years before the bats changed. They forgot that those teams had some god-awful pitching, even with the livelier bats taken into account.

The Eagles have done a good job in transitioning to a stronger pitching team. The issue is finding 3-4 guys who we can put together in the lineup that can - more often than not - produce a run or two each time through the order.

You would be OK with 1-3 this weekend?

Are you doing your patented "assume-a-P5-team-is-good-just-because-they-are-a-P5-team" thing again?

No, it's because they're young and the past 3 years haven't exactly been encouraging. Plus, I was being facetious (you know humor?)

Get a grip.

I haven't seen this year's edition, yet . . . . but based on what I've heard, I'd be happy with a split . . . . Saturday and Monday have a 40% chance of rain in the SM area . . . Hope we can get all 4 in . . . .[/i]

The big question is late-game management. Jones left guys in way too long and then replaced them with 2-3 runners on, putting the bullpen in a bad spot that usually they couldn't get out of. Got a new pitching coach so he might be more forceful in making timely changes.

I think we are at something like 30 losses in the last two seasons in games where we had the lead in the 6th inning or later. Late game management is a big concern for me.

30 games?!! man, didn't realize it was that bad.

I've saved the list for the entire Jones' era. It's not pretty.

Should be some good games in there and as a big fan of the college baseball I am excited to have Coastal in the league!

I'd argue that if the Cajuns are playing at home and there are no hurricanes that the "Tigue" is always the best place to watch baseball.

In Jones first year he schedule something like 10 of our first 12 games vs. ACC/SEC powers, killed the players confidence and they never recovered.

This year he plans to start four true freshman pitchers and the first two games are against two top 25 teams. Feast or famine and I've yet to see feast under Jones.

Do you have how many they won trailing after 6 innings? I think it's less than 10.

I think he's referring to the fact that NC state is preseason top 10 and UVA is the defending national champs

Have to say the Cajuns did the same last year. The first half of the year the team was 15-13 but I liked the way we finished. They'll have to have the right attitude and play older than their years but maybe, like the Cajuns last year, they'll grow into the roles.

Ummm... Pretty sure I just said that questioning the roster and lack of talent in some areas (power and defense, mostly) is entirely fair, given the absurd amount of high school talent in ATL, Florida and Coastal Georgia.
