And in that same time frame. UL baseball has had 9 regional appearances, advancing to the Supers 4 times, advancing to the CWS once.

I'll compare it to our history since 1999. We've made it to the regionals 13 times, super regionals 2 times - hosting one of those, but have never made it to the CWS.

I think the Cajuns have the better resume than ours.

No Jag fan will sit here and tell you we ruled the 2000's, because that has been the worst stretch in our history. But we've found ways to get back there with two first place finishes in the last three years.

Yes 1999, that's when the Super Regional format was adopted, genius. I replied to a post that stated the number of Super Regional appearances your team had.

Can we just say the SBC is a pretty good baseball conference on the rise? With ULL and USA and gradual upgrading of UTA and TXST, now adding in CCU, this is going to get really, really good going forward.

I don't know the whole histories of the rest of the SBC teams but if they get it going, also, we could (as a conference) make a lot more noise and really show out on the national stage.

May be better, but 13 regionals in a 17 year span is very impressive. Kudos to you. Also I see that you guys were only 2 and done in 3 of those 13 regionals, so you were also competitive.

RE: Baseball Opening Weekend
South Alabama has great history and a solid program. And yes, the Jags have done well in the regular season.

But South hasn't played well in midweek games which has hurt their RPI. Unfortunately this league slipped for a couple of years with exception of 2013 when four teams made regionals.

Reality is the Cajuns have been to three straight regionals, two of which they won. That's what the league is right now.

Enough comparisons and history.

UL, USA, Texas State and Troy are all going to be solid ball clubs this year. UTA will be better than folks think.

Now let's see who can parlay a good team into multiple bids in the regionals for the Sun Belt.

I, for one, welcome CCU with open arms. Great facility, great fan base, great tradition.

I wish every team in the league was like Coastal. They only make the league better.

UL, USA and the other good baseball schools rejoiced when the announcement was made.

Our fans can't wait. I heard a bunch of them talking about CCU on fan day (which drew 1500.)

I hated to lose FAU and FIU for their baseball; we took a hit when they left. I'm glad to have added TXST, UTA, GS, and CCU. CCU is definitely a shot in the arm to the league. I like the way our conference has shaped up.
