Good get for Appy no matter the circumstances...and I hope you beat the crap out of them.

I understand the bad blood between App and GaSo...love it...but I have to say both school just moved up to FBS and are doing very well...it takes time to get a P5 program in your house (App being an exception)...it just doesn't happen all that often in the SBC...GaSo will just have to be patient...it will happen.

Sorry, but I can't help but only think of one thing whenever Miami and stAte are mentioned in the same sentence.

Ummmm....would that be the Fainting Goat???

Any idea how well Miami travels? Considering the national brand, you would think they would bring at least 5K.

There are tons here in Atlanta. They may make that trip.

The story we have heard is that they do not travel well at all.

They have a hard enough time getting people to attend home games...

Most Miami Hurricane fans outside of South Florida are fans from the 80's and 90's. I recall when Miami was in the Big East and play Rutgers. They wouldn't draw alum (basically there wasn't any even in the NYC metropolitan area), they would be attractive to teenagers who bought their clothing. They don't have alum all over certain regions of the east coast like Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State etc.

Watch the crowd at the next UNC vs Miami game in NC and you'll notice they don't have crazy out of state fan base they once had.

I would think App could fill their stadium with 30,000 mountaineer fans for a known G5 opponent anyway. I doubt App would need Miami fans to help fill stadium anyway.

The new stadium in Miami would be a treat for App fans as well. Stadium remodel will be done before 2016 season with canopy over 90% of fan seats!

Solid home/home series!

IF, (big IF), this pans out, the biggest bump would be to our athletics budget. A historically big name P5 like Miami would most assuredly boost season ticket sales, especially single game sales. I would expect we would pretty much sell out (~32k) that game assuming we finish this season strong to keep momentum into next season. I know no App fans are excited to be playing NC Central again assuming that game gets replaced.

Big deal.

We've got McNeese State coming to town next year. They'll probably kick our asses too.

The funny thing is, I think both of our programs will draw more for UCA and McNeese respectively next year than we would for Miami.

Appy, you are right GS fans are jealous. We aren't just green we 50 shades of green envious. Luck or not it is a great series and you have 3 years of great scheduled games. GS fans are just trying to find THE reason we can't even get decent g5 games, no offense MAC. Also the loss has made us a little bitter too.

McNeese State isn't a slouch, that's typically a very good FCS program. They came into Boone a few years ago and went back to Louisiana with a W. I have lots of respect for them.

For the season ticket holders, they are jealous of this game (or any P5 team). I'm not a season ticket holder and haven't been able to make it to Paulson Stadium in a long time.

I'd personally prefer locations closer to me since I have a young child. Love to play Army, Penn State, Temple, Rutgers, UCONN.

I don't want any part of an away game with a team called the Mountaineers. We are 0-2 vs them this season. I'm still better about WVU loss03-banghead

I like the UMASS game because it brings back some good championship game moments from the 2 squads.

Heck I'd like another crack at North Dakota on a neutral site or in Statesboro.

U have to admit, North Dakota would bring the same size crowd as most P5 schools. Give the fans what they want!

I'm so jealous of App for this.

I hope after our stadium expansion and move up to the Sun Belt, we can nab a game or 2 like this. Would be a dream come true for me as a fan.

I would fly all the way back to Conway from Texas to see a game against a P5 school in Brooks Stadium.

As cost continue to rise for FBS, I'd expect to see more home/home games with P5 schools. Not all of them are the golden egg they would have you believe. And just like the G5 schools are in an arms race with other G5 schools, P5 schools are doing the same thing, on a grander scale. They all can't afford to pay millions for a money game, they are being forced to agree to home/home series.

Which should add value to the SBC TV media contract.

I know how that is, living far from your team. I didn't have kids yet, but from 2006-2011, I lived in Indiana, and it was not feasible to go south just for a game. My wife and I hardly even saw any of our old friends over those five years. Just pretty much visits with my family and my wife's family.

Unfortunately, the one game within reasonable (about 3 hours) driving distance was the Michigan game... and I didn't go.
