RE: The U in Boone 2016
It has nothing to do with our home record.

Hint: There is a reason that games with Colorado State, UNC, Navy, and Alabama (it's a fact that Saban told Georgia Southern "hell no" when we asked for a game while he was at LSU) magically materialized after we fired Mike Sewak and changed offenses. There is a reason we were 0-fer against FBS teams up until 2013 when many lesser FCS programs have FBS wins.

As for App State….I would be lying if I said I wouldn't wet my pants if this happened to us, but you guys realize that you're going to peak next year with everyone you have coming back and you will basically have no shot at finishing the season ranked or get the Access Bowl, right?

Beating bad P5 teams and winning all of your conference game is how you get ranked unless you are really good a la 2013 UCF or 2009 Boise or Memphis this year. Toledo didn't get ranked playing teams as good as West Virginia or Clemson, and neither did practically any MAC team that has gotten a ranking.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good...

The butt hurt is real....

if this happens, luck probably had alittle bit to do with it, but, lets be honest, a lot of work goes in this to atleast get our name out there to the P5 schools. Gillian and his staff has probably spent a lot of time and effort, on the phones promoting us to the bigger schools, I don't think he was sitting in his office one day, and out of the blue Miami calls looking for a game. Gillian and his staff had been working hard on this long before he talked to Miami.

Can we try to spell our AD's name correctly? It is Doug Gillin, not Gillian.

And while we're at it, our WR #6 is Shaedon Meadors, not Meadows.

Sorry, just have a thing for spelling/pronouncing people's names correctly out of respect to them. Seen these 2 misspellings quite a few times. Carry on... 03-thumbsup

I'm glad we'll still have Tyler Lamp and Marvin Cooks when we play Miami next year.

Isn't that how every out of conference game is scheduled? Nothing about that quote suggests we were the one and only option and this fell in our laps. Stink fans need to just step away from the keyboard. It's pathetic.

I definitely see where you are coming from, but at some point you have to beat someone to take the next step. For Boise it was Oklahoma. Granted they got to that bowl by playing nothing but G5s (Utah was G5 at the time), but still. Miami will likely still be favored, but it is winnable. Tennessee is a much less likely win, but also not out of the realm of possibility.

If the stars align and you get 2 wins, you are talking major exposure for your program that would pay dividends for years. If you sit back and play 11 G5s and an FCS, no one is ever going to feel like your program is trying to take that next step.

Well, West Virginia is not that good and neither is Miami. And we're not playing Clemson next year, we're playing Tennessee, who is good, but it ain't Clemson. Also, you do realize we played Clemson this year and are knocking on the door of being ranked at the end of this year so long as we win out.

Why are you trying to turn this conversation toxic? People are actually discussing the topic without pissing all over each other. Calm down.

Any time you can get a P5 in your house you take it. App has no shot at the Access Bowl next year if we don't play this game unless we beat UT-k, no brainer.

I understand why some other programs would be jealous.

Not jealous in the least. Glad to see you guys get a P5 school at your house.

But your road to an access bowl next season also runs through Statesboro, so ....

But Miami? Wow. They're really the perfect kind of P5 program to get one of these. We have almost no chance, unless maaaaaybe a 2-for-1, getting a home game against a school that averages 70,000+. But Miami carries about the biggest contrast between huge TV ratings and comparably low home attendance. Matter of fact, I would not be shocked if our home game, if it happens, would draw more people than their home game would.

Best part is that App would have a decent shot to win this game.

Miami average nowhere near 70,000. Their fan support is atrocious.

Wish stAte was playing Miami at home in 2016 instead of 2017...better chance of beating them while they are down...one extra year can mean quite a bit in turning a team around.

Good get for Appy no matter the circumstances...and I hope you beat the crap out of them.

I understand the bad blood between App and GaSo...love it...but I have to say both school just moved up to FBS and are doing very well...it takes time to get a P5 program in your house (App being an exception)...it just doesn't happen all that often in the SBC...GaSo will just have to be patient...it will happen.

Yeah, that was my point. I just worded it poorly.

Miami works perfectly because, short of a 2-for-1 and a lot of luck, we weren't ever going to get a team that draws 70,000+, but we still wanted a Big name. Well, Miami is STILL a Big name and draws really get TV ratings. We had no shot at a Clemson, Tennessee, Penn State, or Georgia at home. But Miami is just about as Big a name a s those for TV and notoriety. They're perfect for a home and home because theirlack of attendance puts them on a more level playing field when it comes to these negotiations.

I would not be shocked if Miami @ App State has more attendance than App State @ Miami does (if these games do go through).

Two things.... this announcement shows both how far App has risen and how far Miami has fallen.

Congratulations to the Apps! That is great news for you!

As for Miami, the downfall couldn't happen to a nicer bunch and I hope App beats them 100-0, then rams the goalposts through their bus, and stomps their post game pizzas.

It can't hurt App's recruiting to get games like this on the schedule either, especially from talent rich FL.
