RE: NIT
Somebody had to get sent to Tulsa. Tulsa was a #2 seed. Should Hampton be upset that they aren't in the Charlotte bracket? This isn't the FCS playoffs. This is a tournament where all teams are seeded. Of course we would have drawn more. If we had beaten UR and ODU, we might have warranted a home game. As it was, we were an NIT autobid with no significant OOC wins. We were fortunate there were worse autobids that kept us from an #8 seed.

I agree. Like it or not, the Nov/Dec portion of the season is critical to the midmajor leagues. This year, the CAA was absolutely terrible in the non-conference. We were 6-5(but with 2 wins over non-D1 schools). The best win for the CAA I think was Northeastern winning at Florida State or us over Wofford, but there were not a lot of quality wins OOC. Plus, Delaware was absolutely putrid in the OOC schedule. We have to hope that there are more road wins OOC in the conference as a whole and for the Tribe specifically there are some statement wins in November and December. Definitely not griping, the program is in the best overall place it has been in 20-30 years. While it is agonizing to come close, we are closer than we have been. I just hope for Tarpey, that next season he gets to experience what Tim Rustoven and Marcus almost did. Also, had Dixon stayed healthy, things might have been different as well. It was amazing what the defensive intensity with the 1-3-1 zone did for the comeback though. If we had made any shots, we would have won last night. Just wish we could play with that intensity a little more often.

RE: NIT
Interesting fact:
NIT Automatic qualifiers performed poorly in the first round. Only 2 wins compared to 8 losses overall against at-large selections (one game featured two auto-bid teams, so threw them out).

How many of the automatic qualifiers played at home?

RE: NIT
Most of the AQs were lower seeds, so that makes sense.

RE: NIT
CAA teams did not fare well with only 1 to go. We lost by 3 as did Hofstra at home in a game they were favored against Vermont. JMU choked away a lead by not scoring in the final 3-4 minutes to lose by 1 and UNCW lost by 16 yesterday. Only Hofstra was favored though both JMU and Hofstra played against teams who had 200+ RPIs (USC Upstate (208) and Vermont (203)). UNCW played @ #82 RPI Sam Houston and Tulsa was 45.
Northeastern plays at 12:15 today.

The CAA still, obviously, has some work to do.

RE: NIT
Watching some other NIT games, I can't help but think we would've drawn a bigger crowd than several of these teams. A lot of games being played in empty arenas
