One idea would be for Gettys to shoot the ball when it is fed to him.

I'd hate to gain a competitive advantage due to an injury but that's likely going to shift around their lineup to some degree for sure. Dixon is a big player for them.
I would think Shaver would have to announce soon how severe it is.
Dixon is expected to be out for a week

Yep. I know sometimes we invoke the Aaron Coombs comparison when it comes to big men, and maybe it's true that we won't see CJ playing to his full potential until the 2nd half of his senior year. But it'd sure be nice to see get past his "awkward phase" in time for Baltimore this year.

They are perfectly capable of shutting us down on offense and IMO played the best defense we faced all year. And they also have back their Sr. point guard, so the TO's should be far less. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept us under 40% from the field and under 30% from 3.
We have proven we are capable of winning, even shooting under 30%. But, if we keep playing with fire in doing so, those OT wins and close wins can easily become losses. We won very close games in the first half of conference games, where we were shooting about 10% better from the field. Unless we can regain that percentage, those early close wins will be losses this time around.
I'm not worried about their Sr PG. How many turnovers did Thornton have last game? We have the defense to stifle and frustrate nearly any PG.

I just can't wait to see our student section react to Canyon Barry tossing up his first free throw. lol. He'll make it, but it'll still be great.
I think we should start our walk-on, have him foul Barry on his way up the first time he touches the ball, just to get our students on Barry from the start.

RE: Regular Season CAA Championship?
SURPRISE. Drexel is back in the hunt, and only one game behind UNCW at 8-5. They've also won 6 straight.
The good thing is, we're already done with Drexel, while both W&M and Northeastern have a game left with them.
Our final 6 games are against the 4 worst teams in the CAA, and JMU and Northeastern at home. W&M still has to play Drexel as their last home game, and Northeastern and Hofstra away. They also have Delaware at home, who they've historically had problems with.
Although i'm not optimistic, the emergence of Drexel could actually help us IF we can go on a run to end the season. W&M has the toughest remaining schedule, and UNCW has a chance to sweep Northeastern should the Tribe falter.

Exactly. The game Thursday between ne and Hofstra is big too. For right now, it is a 6 team race. Jmu is still in it since their remaining schedule is favorable. I would expect us to beat Elon and you guys to beat Charleston but we lost to them both.

The bad news about Drexel is if they keep winning, they become a potential semi-final matchup for us. They're probably the team in this conference that presents the toughest matchup for us in a tournament setting.

You and me both. But we can't worry about that. We just need to play up to our ability and things will take care of themselves.

If we are competing for a regular season CAA Championship (which at this point we are) then this is literally a must-win game.

Remember when "must win" games were because we "must win" to save our dignity?
This is MUCH better.

RE: Regular Season CAA Championship?
W&M (10-4) vs 30-26
UNCW (10-4) vs 23-33
NE (9-5) vs 23-33
JMU (9-5) vs 28-28
Hofstra (8-6) vs 26-30
Drexel (8-6) vs 34-22
So we've got the 'easiest' schedule down the stretch, tied with NE. Although 3/4 games are on the road. I gotta say, I like our chances for a top 2 seed in Baltimore.

RE: Regular Season CAA Championship?
To say it another way:
The "average conference standings" of the four teams we play is (4+7+8+9th place) is 7th. The same calculation for WM is 3.75 average
standing for their remaining games. I like the chances for them getting a loss and for us to win it all!
