RE: NCAA Men's BBall Poll (AP)
We didn't make the Top 25 in the AP: http://collegebasketball.ap.org/poll
South Carolina (24 last week), Xavier (22) and Florida (19) were 23, 24 and 25 respectively.
Waiting to see how many points we got in that one.

Good god, Florida got 47 points and K-State 41. And we only get 14. I shouldn't be surprised at this point but I'm highly disappointed once again.

Gotta be realistic when it comes to the rankings,UNCW plays in the CAA and beats COC-nobody cares on the national scene. They have to keep winning and maybe they get ranked at 25-2,that is a pretty gaudy record even for a CAA team. Do you honestly think UNCW is the 25th best team in the country? Without a signature win over a P5 team its really hard to make the argument for a CAA team.

They did. Pollsters must be giving them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as they started 5-0 in SEC play before losing two close games (both decided by 4 points or less) to good teams.
I'm less concerned about Florida remaining in the poll than I am about how few points we're still getting.

We're the best mid-major team in the country (Gonzaga isn't truly a mid-major anymore). While that doesn't guarantee a top 25 slot, we definitely belong in the conversation.
A win over Middle Tennessee or Clemson would have cemented our status as a Top 25-caliber team, and the rest of our non-conference opponents are doing us few favors with their play of late. But we won all the games we should, at least one we weren't supposed to (@ Saint Bonaventure), and are undefeated at home. It's not really our fault more quality opponents refuse to play us, especially not in Trask.

I like how Kansas State went from one vote last week to 41 this week, leap frogging us by quite a margin. Sigh.

They weren't on my radar, but I failed to see they beat West Virginia on Saturday. That was an impressive win. But yeah, going all the way to 41 points is kind of ridiculous.

Well, as of right now the "experts" have us as the 29th best team in the country without a signature P5 win, so how difficult is that argument... really?

It's kind of hard to get quality P5 wins when only 1 P5 team plays you, and only at their house.
Yeah, maybe we could have gotten another "guarantee game" on our schedule instead of one of the non-DI games, but it's not really our philosophy to have more than 2 of those. We want home games any way we can get them.
In any case we got paid $85,000 to beat Saint Bonaventure, who is currently 4-2 in the 7th best basketball conference. No, they're not a powerhouse, but that's a quality win no matter what spin the Mullet puts on it.

And this is yet another reason why a lot of these voters and the NCAA Tournament committee are worthless. They barely understand how the basketball landscape works, and/or don't care how it works. Only one member of the current 10 members was a former coach. One.

Another 2-0 week and a loss by someone ahead of us, and we're in.

RE: NCAA Men's BBall Poll (AP)
I searched "UNCW" on Twitter this weekend just to see if we were getting any attention. One comment, as a reply to Seth Davis, stuck out. Nationally, people look to see what we've done against P5 schools, see that a 1-6 Clemson beat us handily and dismiss us. I don't recall the comment verbatim, but it mentioned the Clemson loss and a weak CAA. I think it's wrong, but even a MTSU wouldn't be viewed as "quality" by a lot of the national media.
MTSU beat the almighty Tom Izzo in the NCAA tournament last year, and they're off to 17-3 record this year and they're getting 1 AP vote. It's frustrating, but I don't see it changing any time soon.

Man, the SEC is awful. SCar, UF and UK are each going to have really good records. I don't anticipate either UF or SCar losing this week.

RE: NCAA Men's BBall Poll (AP)
Can you really disagree with their perception? Clemson is not winning games right now and that was a key game on your schedule, which you lost. Drexel in 2012 dealt with the same problem. The loss that sealed our fate was early in the year to Norfolk State, who had a soon-to-be NBA player, and who upset Missouri as a 15 seed that year. That loss, while not horrible for that year, was viewed as unforgivable. The more Clemson keeps losing the more doubt people will have about UNCW

Evidently it is a damn tough argument,19-2 record and undefeated in the CAA and still NOT ranked. Do you think UNCW is the 25th best team in D1 ?

The Coaches Poll says we're 26th. STFU already.
