I hope that executive director makes note of the root cause - that MWC tie-in. He could be looking at thousands of C-USA fans coming in from Middle Tennessee or Rice instead.
That 10 am kick also means 8 am on the west coast. Just massive dumb here.
I believe the guest spot in the N.O. Bowl is rotational. I think the AAC and C-USA will be involved vs a SBC school but I'm not sure how frequently.
Don't let Savacool's comments fool you. Despite whining about fears that hotel and restaurant revenues will be down, poor attendance, etc, his only desire is to see this New Orleans Bowl be a massive failure because the Cajuns are playing once again. He's one of these guys who believes that the only way to make Tulane look better is for anyone else remotely near them to be a total disaster.

The N.O. bowl wanted to be a part of the G5 bowl pool. CUSA and SBC gave up two primary ties a piece to the AAC and MWC. As a result, CUSA and SBC will play in the NO bowl 4 out of six years...twice against each other and once each against the AAC and MWC. They (CUSA/SBC) are the backups in years w/o a primary tie. At least that's how it was explained to me...think I got it right.

This Bowl will still struggle when the MWC is involved - unless they hit the Air Force jackpot. It's a long expensive trip when there is no opportunity for advance purchase plane tickets.
And I completely agree with quo vadis. New Orleans, on the weekend before Christmas, is outstanding. I went when Rice played in 2006, and had a great time. Most Rice fans are bemoaning the turn of events that sent us to Hawaii instead of over to New Orleans for a good party.

As for the MW yes. The MW rotates for this year and then next year, I believe the MW will either vacate the Hawaii bowl for the Armed forces bowl next year.

Agree, only passing along what I heard from local bowl folks here who also looked at the "G5 bowl pool" and decided against it. Whether it is the right decision or not remains to be seen, but it is the direction the bowl execs wanted to go.

Look, this is a bottom-feeder bowl. But it has struggled much less than say the St. Pete Bowl, and that bowl has regularly featured AQ teams, and teams from close by as well. The bowl's attendance hinges strictly on ULL. In years when ULL plays, it will draw 35,000 + fans, outstanding for a bottom-feeder bowl. In years with other teams, it will draw 20k - 30k, about standard for bottom-feeder bowls.
But it will never be endangered. I mean, it drew 25k for Memphis vs FAU for crissakes. It's New Orleans

LOOK! I don't claim to speak for the N.O. Bowl...or what's best for it. I have contact with one bowl only...lowest of lower tiers at that! They (N.O. bowl )wanted to upgrade, and felt the best route was including AAC/MWC.

Hold your horses! I didn't say you spoke for the New Orleans Bowl. But including the MWC and later the AAC was a good move for them.
BTW, I'm curious, which bowl do you have contact with? Or is it some kind of national security secret?

Not at all. I've organized parades and gathered volunteers, but giving birth slowed my roll this year. Honestly, I'm the wife who pays attention during Mardi Gras.

Not too hard to figure out when he posts the same tripe almost word for word on every site he visits...........ULL sister university of ULM, the Tulane University of Louisiana, Tier 1 versus lowly Tier 2, lowly Sunbelt, 54,000 cajun fans to 1 Tulane fan, yada yada yada.
He sounds nuttier than a farkin' fruitcake.

If my calcs are correct, the New Orleans bowl finished 12th in attendance last year (54,728) besting the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Michigan vs Kansas State), the Holiday Bowl (Arizona State vs Texas Tech) the Music City Bowl (Ole Miss vs Georgia Tech) and the Outback Bowl (Iowa vs LSU) just to name a few. Not too shabby for a bottom-feeder.
I see attendance much lower this year for a variety of reasons. In my view it'll be a huge success if the crowd can break 40K.

Looks like Nevada did not travel well as expected. Under 500 in attendance. What is both the real and the official attendance figures. Can anyone post photos of the fan seats from the noise bleed section down the field on the four sides of the Superdome? TV only shows the U La La side of field. What about the Nevada side and end zones?

Two regional teams make for pretty good attendance at this bowl. Todays crowd was all ULL, and very respectable. Throw in ULL vs S Miss, Memphis, Houston, La Tech, Tulane, Rice, or a few others, and you should get a 50k plus or minus crowd

Indeed. Rice would have been an excellent draw.....LaTech better, though I don't think either team wanted to play their bowl game against the other when they beat us earlier this year in Lafayette and we play them in October in Dogpatch.
