what i'm hearing.

I was simply told that our administration gently "reminded" the Sun Belt Conference that if the By laws were just "guidelines" then the penalties for negotiating with another bowl without SBC permission were just "guidelines" as well.

To be honest, I think we might have gotten an Independence Bowl invite had we waited till weekend. But no one is going to pull a Tech.

Hopefully you guys might have made on opening for ULM.

We're used to being let down.

That and when your own people are quoting less than a 50 percent chance of bowling...its hard to get confident.

I would not be surprised to have some bad blood between ASU and WKU admins from now on. Things didn't get handled very well from what I hear. It might be a long time until any sports plays each other again.

How so? We lost the biggest game of the year, congratulated ULM, and moved on.

We learned a lesson from MTSU last year. Keep in mind had you guys won that game...we'd have been the one without a bowl. Any possible way to keep Benson's greasy paws off the situation...the better.

I have never been one to bash the SBC and sing the praises of CUSA, but if WKU at 8-4 sits at home while ULM at 6-6 goes bowling (with a loss to WKU) then I will jump on the CUSA is better for WKU's football program bandwagon.
As someone posted on another thread no team with a record of 7-5 or better should sit at home while 6-6 teams go to bowls.
It is bad enough when every team in the P5 with a pulse gets an invite, but when teams with better records than conference mates sit at home, it is truly a farce.
Apparently, the only way for WKU to get a bid is to win the conference title outright. Sitting at home twice in a three year period while teams with worse records go to bowl games is ridiculous.

No other SB team has a chance unless WKU gets in PIzza Bowl...I doubt the craziness of last year will not happen where La. Tech was denied a bowl...

Pathetic. What a clown college Astate is.

The Sun Belt has a regulation enacted in August of this year.

Insisting that regulations be followed is not pathetic, or clownish.

Pathetic and clownish is turning down a bowl invite in hopes of another, and then complaining about sitting your ass at home.

Sound familiar?

Not at all close to what I hear. Heck, most attorneys I know wouldn't have been in the office in time to put all that together today.

I don't hate WKU or their fans. Wish things had worked out differently and I hate that it all went down like it did. The SBC is putting a really good product on the field and I hope we keep adding bowl tie-ins to avoid this ugly situation in the future.

8-4 W. Kentuckey did get their a$$ given to them by a 6-6 Troy just saying about hopes for a bowl game

Who are both tied in the conference

Although it was ULM did beat Troy

Polarity Bowl 2013

But sure West. Kentuckey has a 8-4 record

Though they really do look at conference play

I guess the next one will be....we paid off somebody to get the invite.

RE: asu to go daddy - official
It was as muddled as ever this year. ASU played a tougher OOC schedule and had a better conference record and has a history of supporting the bowl game more than anyone. On the other hand, WKU had a better overall record and beat ASU head to head and offered a change of scenery to the bowl. In a vacuum it was pretty close.
