I'm looking forward to making the trip to Boone in '16. Think I'll take in a bunch of breweries over in Asheville too. 04-cheers

Asheville is my hometown. The beer scene is unparalleled; however, Boone is beginning to hold its own with several breweries popping up recently. There's a whole thread on our message board about it. I love Asheville, but you might could save the trip to Asheville and just take in all that Boone has to offer.

Can't wait for this matchup. Heinicke will be gone, but I'm sure you guys will reload (as will we, hopefully). It was a no-brainer IMO to get ODU on the schedule. 04-cheers

I personally think Boone has better "shine". ODU is a great start for OOC scheduling of home and home. I'm typing this from the Detroit airport and spoke to many Michigan alums that can't wait for next year's opener. The Wolverines have disappointed this year as the Apps certainly have.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to both games.

Living in Roanoke, Boone is a shorter trip than Norfolk.

RE: App close to first OOC FBS series
ODU plays their first home ACC game, NC State, the week before they play App State in 2015.
So would like to see us get a home ACC game in 2015.
Their stadium is smaller than ours and do not think their new one will be built by then, but maybe so.

Yep, I actually live in Boones Mill so you and I are realyy close. May have to take some of Franklin County's finest down to Boone to show those NC boys how White Lightnin's 'sposed to be.

Who does GaSo have a home and home with?
Western or Eastern Michigan?

Boooooo..... Go Monarchs!! I think Old Dominion is quite a fine name, better than Eastern Virginia or some other garbage.

I think playing App will be lots of fun! If possible, I'd love to come down to Boone and see an ODU victory!

But I mean...why a Monarch? Are you guys just a bunch of future kings and queens or something?

If this was Britain, would you be the Constitutional Monarchs?

Why not be a Monarch?? You get to boss people around with the only justification for your reign being that you happened to have the "proper" parents!

Well, I'd rather be the Constitutional Monarchs than some other descriptive words for kings and queens (looking at you, Louis XVI....)

See I like what was done in Virginia regarding their public schools' names. Naming their public schools after presidents and founding fathers sounds so much "smarter" and more prestigious than being named after the city its in or the direction of the school. Old Dominion sounds much better than UVA-Norfolk. James Madison sounds much better than UVA-Harrisonburg.

With that said, you ain't walking out of Boone with a victory. 05-mafia

Completely agree with the names. Makes VA schools sound much less mid-major than they actually are.

ODU was actually started by the College of William and Mary as its Norfolk Division. Thus, Old Dominion >>>>>> W&M-Norfolk

The Monarchs will give App quite the game, I'm sure! Nobody beats ODU in a demoralizing fashion! Well.. except for one school.... Georgia Southern, complete with their silly chant.

So Georgia Southern beats ODU in a demoralizing fashion....don't you think App State beat GaSo in a demoralizing fashion this year, and hasn't lost to GaSo in years, potentially a sign that it could happen to ODU?

Love the series, two good fanbases. I only wish it started in 2014 to get to see ODU's QB in person.

Nice series. I'd like to play ODU at some point but it makes a lot of sense for you two to play each other. One mystery is sovled now to wait on the other CUSA team and MAc team.

I wouldn't call those losses demoralizing. The second was certainly a heartbreaker as we were winning and lost it in the 4th quarter.

I suspect these will be good games. It's hard to tell what you'll have 2 years in the future, Heinicke's succesor is a bit of a question mark at this point but there's some very promising options. App is obviously going through some adjustments now but I don't expect them to stay down long.

It is as demoralizing to fans to lose back to back seasons in the playoffs to the same team. GSU knows that pain, courtesy of NDSU.
Does it hurt more to never be in a game or to see a win slip from your fingers?

It hurts but the closeness of the losses keeps us hungry. When you get beat and not just lose the game that's what I consider demoralizing.

I am hoping Middle Tennessee will be the other CUSA school we have a home and home with.
