Rutgers is not major competition. They are picked last in the AAC, a conference with a lot of bad teams.

We should win easily.

New Mexico is our first major competition.

I believe that was from "Finding Nemo". I kind of liked it. :-)

Thanks. My daughter told me the same thing.

By major competition, I meant that we can't screw around and expect to win easily. Also, does the AAC have a bunch of bad teams? Rutgers, SMU, USF, and anyone else? Tulane and East Carolina don't show up until next year.

RE: Exhibition Game thread
I was following the Cowboys on the phone as well as our Saints fans on media row. I was happier than they were.

Hey it's an exhibition game. The intensity level was not where it should be but that will change when we tee it up for real

Point will be fine. It will take a while for CF and DW to settle in but we are leaps and bounds better in the position.

We have better overall depth and talent. Our returning players are better. Coaches are a year wiser. This should be a bubble NCAA team and a lock for the NIT. Of course I hope we are better. It will be fun watching this group gel together. When we do we will be very good.

Oh Milligan shot the lights out outside the arc. I would not be that worried as some of them (not all) were well contested. Three of them were banked in so they were livin right. Lol.

It's an exhibition.

So, what is the official record for rebounds in a regular season game for UAB?

I meant total rebounds for the team, not individual rebounds.

It is around 65 back in the 80's. I don't recall the team, maybe Roosevelt or Prairie View or someone like that.

RE: Exhibition Game thread
Last season, the team averaged 36.7 rebounds per game. Last night, even if it was only an exhibition game, they had 63 rebounds, almost twice as many as they averaged last year.

Oh! Thanks. That must have been sometime when Chris Giles had something like 19 rebounds, if I recall.

Correction. It was 69 rebounds at South Alabama in 1994.

None of those games involved Chris Giles.

We should be a good rebounding team this year, as we have a lot more size. Our shortest starter is 6'4". We've had so many small teams the past decade or so, it'll be nice to have more traditional basketball size.

I completely agree with this assessment AB. This team should be a NCAA contender, or its a disappointing season..

I'm going to wait and see how the newcomers adjust to D1 and if our seniors are ready to have a winning season before I buy my NCAA tickets.

We don't have the schedule to build an at large campaign unless we pull some major upsets against UNM and UNC. And those games come to early in the season before we have everything gelled.

Our team that got demolished in the play in game proved that we can get an at large without many "big wins."

It's about big wins and avoiding bad losses. If we can avoid the WTF losses and have 6-7 total losses, I think we'd be a strong at large candidate.

If anything, our team that got demolished in the play-in game paved the way for us NOT to get an at-large bid without any big wins.
