Penalties cost us. Not having Backman and Humphrey also hurt tremendously. Not much you can do about losing Backman and not having Humphrey available, but no excuse for the penalties though.

That was the turning point to me. Gave them 3 points (one yard from 7) and set the keystone cops tone for the rest of the game.

That was hardly the main issue we had. Penalties are what screwed us and killed drives.

There were so many issues besides the onside kick. The kicking game was terrible. Two missed FG's, one botched FGA, and a critical botched punt.
Penalties were atrocious. Zero push from the DL.

Penalties had nothing to do with it. It's incompetence at every level of the game. Coaches and players. This team sucks. It has sucked since the day Watson Brown was hired to coach it. And the suckage is all we will ever know. I don't know why we are condemned to always suck, but I think it's karma for the way we treated Jim Hilyer when we went to I-A.

Troy is not the better team. They have the W, but that doesn't make them better. UAB doomed itself in this game.

We gain NOTHING by playing Troy. Let the series end next year. Sick of us finding more ways to lose when you've dominated most of the game.

Which game this season will be McGee's last?

I was going to go to San Antonio to watch the game in October. I'm out! I'm not going to waste my time or money to support this type of effort. This kind of loss is embarrassing. It gives you very little hope for the future.

Sadly, football has become our best-played sport at UAB. The longer this goes on, the more I'm convinced this situation will never change. I'll make donations to the School of Engineering, but the Athletic Department will get nothing from me.

Southern Miss lost to Texas State, both FAU and FIU looked AWFUL in their 1st game..........do not give up on this team so early. There is A LOT of football to be played.

UAB looked like an overall better team than a year ago, but again, we cannot find a way to hold on.

And ECU struggled with ODU. La Tech got hammered by NC State. There's a lot of potential, but the problem is that we never seem to learn a lesson. We always find a way to lose games we are in control of.
