RE: Troy Game thread.
Penalties is why UAB lost. They will continue to lose if they keep having stupid penalties. When I played football our coach made penalties a objective. If we had between 75-100 yards of penalties it would be 15 suicides on the field after the game. Over 100 yards it was 40 suicides with a 5min. timer. If one player didn't make it the suicide didn't count.

I'll still be pulling for the Blazers but I would not be surprised if we lose by 50+ next week.

We screwed up, sure. Coaches, special teams, etc. But we also played most of the game without 2 of our best players (Humphrey and Backman).

You were saying the same thing at the beginning of last season, that we looked improved. We won three games.

I'll buy that we are improved when we start winning games on a regular basis.

Yep. People on here seem to enjoy moral victories quite a bit, year after year.

The team needs to be able to beat someone like Troy without two specific players. What happens when they get hurt at LSU?

You guys must be using some of the new diagnostic equipment at the cancer center to measure improvement, because it is so small it is undetectable by the human eye. I cannot count how many times I've heard "well, we lost but we are improved!" At some point those improvements should show up in the score, right?

my goal is to win more games this year than we did last year (its a low hanging fruit type of goal...but im trying to set the bar low enough). in order to do that, i dont think we needed to beat troy.

i would have loved to have beaten troy, but i think its entirely possible that we're better than last year and still lose to the condoms. im not saying im happy that we lost (especially the way we lost), im just saying im not devastated either...

now, if we start 0-3, that will be a different story.

I'm not mad or even very sad really. I'm almost totally numb to UAB football now. It has sucked all the passion for the sport out of me. When UAB soccer or basketball lose a game I think they should win, then I'm mad. UAB football and embarrassing losses are just a fact of life. You absorb them and go on. Doesn't make me want to stop being a UAB fan (like I could anyway), just makes me focus more on soccer and other fall activities.

Tonight is just business as usual for UAB fans.

Lost in all of this with the result of the game, I actually really like the all-white unis and white helmets.

Yep, and this is why I'll keep up with Samford. Football is my sport, it's what I get excited about. But I'm fed up spending my money to watch us play predictably sub-par football and know the ending ahead of time. Frankly, I have better things to do with my time and money after waiting for hope and change for the past three coaches.
