It should be CUSA vs SBC and played on campus. 12 games (6 CUSA home games and 6 SBC home games). If the home team does not want to play at its stadium they can move it.

Crazy Idea for a Mega Showdown Saturday with C-USA
I'd like the SBC vs. C-USA champs in a kick-off game. And Sunday is your best day if it's in Atlanta. That's Labor Day weekend, the NFL isn't playing yet, and I don't believe there's a game. Didn't they play college games on Saturday and Labor Day Monday in 2012?

Even better, I'd like a full C-USA vs. SBC weekend at campus sites. USA vs. USM, Troy vs. UAB, ULL vs. LTU (sorry, gotta be realistic ULM fans -- if they'll skip a bowl game rather than play you...)

Sunday might actually work(better idea than anything presented by GSUeagles anyhow) , the problem you run into is in order for this to actually work both schools would need to have an opening on the schedule for the following year.

There are a few on Sunday during Labor Day weekend. Last year it was Kentucky/Louisville and a few others.

Bottom line it is going to take Ga Southern to make this all this work. Dan Cathy will have to pull some strings, otherwise it will never happen as everyone else involved will want to keep everything ACC/SEC.

CUSA will not do it. It's a lose/lose situation in their minds.

I think its funny that you think Dan Cathy has that much pull.

Here it is: (GAST fans will love this)

We schedule a weekend at the GA Dome: "3 Games Starting at High Noon". Get ESPN or whoever to cover all three games and promote the Event and the City of Atl behind it as they stand to make $.

Fill in whatever teams you like, but just as example maybe:
Game 1: UAB v/s Troy
Game 2:4PM Southern Miss v/s Georgia Southern (Eagles showdown)
Game 3: 8PM ArkState v/s Marshall or whoever??

You'd need to pick some teams close enough to travel well and maybe even a halfway point or something for some schools.

The idea is you would pay say $80/ticket - but you can come at any time and stay for all 3 games if you want to. It would be a SEA of tailgating and ATL would book lots of hotels and sell a lot of food, etc.
I figure that if Each team averaged 20 to 25k to support their team, you could almost sell out the Dome. We might get a lot of just college football fans who would love to make an entire day of it?

Crazy?

If it worked out well, we could do the same thing on the Western borders of the footprint and have a showdown with MWC teams.

Did Georgia recently pass laws to make marijuana legal there?01-wingedeagle

Doubt seriously that CUSA or any other conference would have any interest. Teams schedule OC game that fit their individual needs.

I understand that point of view. I just think that maybe some teams would find something like this might fit a need they have. Certainly the Conference needs exposure and every chance that any non-AQ conference has to prove they are better than the next is a need we all have.

The event might not fly. But It might work for some teams. I just threw some matchups out there. Obvisoulsy most Georgia Southern fans haven't been around the Sun Belt to know which matchups might work out best, I was just taking a guess.

I dont know why MAC/SBC games have even been mentioned. The footprints dont overlap, very few rivalries between the two and too far for most of them to most any SBC city that this would be considered for should anyone try it. Besides MAC programs attendance is terrible. Honestly I consider the MAC to the absolute bottom confernece in the FBS. I'm just way more interested in knocking off C-USA teams. I think a lot of SBC teams have something they would like to prove to C-USA for "passing them over". I know most current SBC programs are going to consider this arrogant, and I mean no disrespect. Call it ignorance or whatever, but I think most App and GASouthern people thought we would go to CUSA. Especially after they invited ODU and UNNC - we just about had Kniption(spell?) fits. I'm sure some of you did to. Before you judge me too hard on that, just think that we SHOULD have moved to the FBS many years ago.

I really want cross hairs on C-USA. Is this not more appealing than the MAC to everybody else?

Anway. I know I'd go to Atlanta or even one of the other citys proposed. I just thought Atlanta would be the best choice for EAST based Belt teams, but again - I haven't been around long enough to get my barrings on driving distances etc. I do know that it is a common choice for a lot of football showdowns not based even based in GA. Im just thinking about something like this as a sort of mid season BOWL like weekend. If any teams wanted to do it.. It would be neat. I'd be there if my team was playing.
