The main problem with this is you would have to mix it around to be fair for all teams. That, and I love football, but I'm not sitting 9 hours in a stadium to watch two games I really don't care about before/after a South Alabama game I am really there to see.

Why not just make it CUSA vs SBC showdown Saturday?

UAB vs Georgia State
UNT vs Texas State
ULL vs Rice
Southern Miss vs South Alabama
App State vs UNCC
Middle Tennessee vs Troy
Western Kentuckey vs Arkansas State

match the rest up.

If you're going to force it, go ahead and make ULM v. LaTech happen.

They do six games- 1 Thursday night, 2 Friday, and 3 Saturday. Tons of tailgating a mixing of the fanbases.

Have you been to the Saturday event(s)? Is it fun to see all those fan bases together?

Imagine that at the FBS level between two conferences with something to prove and a possible ranking effect towards being the Best G05.

Now.. Imagine that in back to back weekends, The Sun Belt has this showdown with CUSA and the MWC. Imagine if the Sun Belt sweeped those two conferences and won all 6 games. What would that do for the Conference. And FoxSports 1 and 2 Might be very interested in such a thing especially with the impact some of those games could have on a conference getting that 7/8Million and a team getting a BCS conference invite.

Yes, I have been to it. I enjoyed the experience (especially in the parking lot). While people setup where ever, each school had a "neighborhood" where you saw a critical mass of fans coming together. The various alumni associations had cookoffs, live concerts, and gimmicks to get fans to gather around them.

As you walked towards the stadium, you would run into other "neighborhoods" comingle with the fans. The LSC messageboard is a lot like this place. Fans from all the teams cheering for one another. It makes roadtrips much easier when you know people that are going to be there. Getting everyone together for a common festival is fun.

You could either buy festival long or single day passes. So hypothetically, you could show up on Satuday go to the Noon game and stay for the remaining games that day.

How does Jacksonville make sense? Oh because Georgia Southern is close? Got it.

New Orleans makes sense. Jacksonville, not so much.

The championship game will be held at the home field of highest ranked opponent. -Benson

It's an interesting idea.
Can you imagine the tailgating going on?

$80 a ticket would be a steal. You can visit some SEC stadiums and pay almost that for one ticket/game.

I dont know guys, FoxSports 1 & FoxSports 2 are going to be in need of some Football. I'd think that Big events that generate a lot of interest with big crowds with lots of intermingling back stories and where they dont even have to break down the film crew and equipment for multiple game coverage might be something they would be interested in. Especiallly with the impact the outcomes could have on conference rankings etc. They'd have a lot to talk about and film and might even higlight several rivalries and bring good exposure to the conference.

Well if Southern was in it, the 9 hour problem would be solved. We run the ball so much you would probably only have to be there for 8 and a half hours 03-wink

Fox has the Pac-12, the Big 12, and CUSA. There is plenty of inventory there for them to choose from.

The thing is the Sun Belt doesn't have a contract with Fox Sports. And if its true that Fox Sports wants to start to challenge ESPN they won't start out like this.

Also the only schools that might be iterested, might be those schools leaving. I know as a Marshall fan I have no interest in playing Ark. State, GA State, NMSU or even Appy or GA Southern.

Not that some may or may not be a decent match up but Ark State, GA State or NMSU would not get me excited, esp if I would lose a home game over this.

As far as Appy and GA Southern go those rivalries ended in 1996. Just as Appys rivalry with Western Carolina will end after this year or GA Southerns rivalry with Furman. Neither Appy or GA Southern will ever go to Whitmire Stadium in Cullowhee, NC to play WCU or to Paladin Stadium in Greenville, SC to play Furman again. Maybe in 6-7 years if both can be proven to not be an Idaho or ULM a H-H would be OK.

RE: Crazy Idea for a Mega Showdown Saturday with C-USA
The reason the football festival works for the Lone Star Conference is because all of the schools are in Texas and they want to recruit Dallas.
A festival like this wouldn't work for this league because we are too spread out and are trying to recruit our own areas.

A better option would be an Big10/Pac12, Big12/ACC challenge where everyone plays a game against the other league with a point system based on wins. Since we have an overlapping footprint, the best thing to do would be to do it based on geographic rivals.

The problem is that we do have overlapping footprints, so nobody wants to run the risk of losing in their own backyard.

I think that the SBC teams are probably willing to play them to prove we are better, or at least we should to establish that point. They might not want to play us but maybe they be goated (Dont get excited App Fans.... 03-lmfao03-lmfao -- I'm kidding, just kidding.. dang - there I go again.. ) into accepting the challange.

I don't see Atlanta working for any school more than 200 miles away. Why would Arkansas State and Marshall want to travel that far to play one another? Of the six schools you've mentioned, Southern is the only one I expect would bring more than a few thousand fans and that's due to proximity as well as newness to FBS. Guarantee Southern Miss fans wouldn't be excited to travel nearly 400 miles to play Georgia Southern.
