I thought the size of the crowd was pretty good. Most of the wine and cheesers showed up. There were more people in the crappy upper level seats than there have been all year. The problem was the crowd was almost in a coma. That was about as lifeless of a Tiger crowd as I have ever seen.

Even Joe Theisman and Jerry West showed up.

it is La Tech.

when Gonzagaaaaaa plays here or Texas or Tennessee is will be a madhouse.

honestly, i get more pumped for road games. i LOVE seeing us win road games. we seem to play better on the road as well. we look intense. we look like world beaters we we are in someone else's house. At the Forum we look like we are simply practicing...which is pretty amazing that we are so bloody good that we can screw around for 40 minutes an win by almost 20 in an apparent scrimmage for real games.

this team is still very special...and antonio Anderson learned a valuable lesson tonight about playing under control...

Can't get more wine and cheeser than that. Was Mr. "It's All Good" there tonight as well? From my upper level seats high above I can't see the celebs and rich folks in the good seats without a telescope.

i still think we should play one conference game a year in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. just one. $5 tickets, students get in free of course. Put 4000 nutso' fans in that gym and toss in a ball. just one game a year...please....

We pretty much had that at the Tad Pad. 3,000 rabid, hell raising Tiger fans in Oxford cheering on the Tigers. Then tonight we had 13,000 comatosed Tiger fans, some at times looked as though they were no longer among the living. Add on top of that one particular upper level Forum ticket Nazi and I did not enjoy the evening as much as I originally had hoped. At least there was more than one concession stand open in the upper level for a change.

that is too bad. but hey, what we have is a "corporate" team. i don't mean to disparage the tigers..i just mean that it is in fact a "big time" program and the school needs the money generated by a big arena and season tickets. so we only get 13,000. i mean what does the school want? money or people in seats? Memphis is a poor town, economically, or at least i should say not rich...you want 18,500? we can do that but it won't generate the income that 12,000 season ticket holders do, even if they don't show.

just one game in the fieldhouse..please...

I thought the crowd was good considering Tuesday night the week of Christmas against La. Tech. i know the grizz are not drawing much better during the week, and we are playing la. Tech and Lamar , not the Lakers and Detroit.

The size of the crowd was fine. The level of intensity was as piss poor as I can remember. As Jeb would say- it was so dead in the upper level they were selling formaldehyde at the concession stand.

I agree. It was dead up there. I like being able to cheer for the team and being more active in the game, but it is hard to do when everyone around you is quiet.

I agree & disagree.

I thought the crowd sounded very good in the first half but a lot deader in the 2nd half.

Watching the broadcast on cstv.com, the crowd sounded fantastic during much of the first 20 minutes. Was non-existent in final 20 minutes.

the crowd was not that into it, but when Dorsey blocked that shot, (knocked the dude down, and got nothing but ball) the dead people even woke up.

i know he wants 18,000 for every game, and the team deserves it, but is simply will not happen against La Tech the week of Christmas.

When I was in school (Yates' last two years and Kirk's first two years) I seem to remember the BBaller's always playing Arkansas, Ole Miss and Miss State during the Christmas breaks and attendance was pretty darn good. I even drove back to Memphis from Jackson to watch the Arkansas game during semster break. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Coach Calipari trying to kill these type of games since taking the program "National"? 01-wingedeagle

You know who you are acting like? I'm sure Chi will defend you no worries.

Yeah actually Goodfellow was there with West, Theisman, PK Tigrett, and Hyneman all in the backstage bar at halftime. Not all together mind you but they were all in there at the same time. Lower level was as crowded as any game this year-there were people all around me who have not been to every game and even next to me; mphsfan had sold/given his tickets to somebody. It was kind of a qauiet crowd but the Tigers other than Carney were pretty lackluster as well.

giving away the lower level tickets for a game isn't going to solve the problem. The lower level and club levels were pretty full. So the season ticket holders in those seats were doing their part, even if everyone wasn't standing on their feet the whole time.

The key is how do you get more people to buy single game tickets or short-season passes for the upper level? Offer a cheaper seat in the end sections behind the goals. Get the prize cannons back and involve the fans in the club and terrace levels. Make the lighting in the upper level better like they do for Grizzlies' games.

Complaining about the big donors who allow us to have a national program, and talk of confiscating their seats when they are finally being used, is counterproductive. Get new blood in the arena. Just don't expect that new blood to be screaming the entire game. This is still a work in progress. Kentucky and Louisville and the like have had their crowd standards in big arenas for years. We are still trying to work our way back to the level of support of the early days at the Pyramid. And even then we only packed it for big games. But it is going to take some effort on The University's part. They can't just expect fans to start begging to come in because the team is winning. Those of us who are true fans will be there. We just need to capture the bandwagon fans and keep them on board.

The problem is the upper deck. I have tickets in the club level and if is wasn't for that I would stay home and with on TV before I would sit up there. I'm not the only one that thinks that way. I have plenty of friends that want to sit with me if I have an extra ticket but tell me there is no way they would ever sit up there.

If they want it to be packed with rabid fans then make every seat general admission. It would be like the NIT last year. That was by far the best crowds we have had in the forum. I know it will never happen because its all about money.

It's tuesday and we weren't playing a ranked opponent. If the Gonzaga game weren't on the day after Xmas I think it would be sold out.
