Duke is your only game bigger than those and you lost that one so what is Calapari thinking talking smack? Like he didn't schedule Lamar and Jackson State. You're new league was put together to be a football league and basketball suffered, face it Louisville needed those cupcakes to develope the rebuilding team they have before going to play in a tough Basketball league. "Cryin'" John is just whining like always.
Kentucky????? HAAAAAAAAAA,those guys wouldn't finish in the top three of this horrible league. As of right now your only tough games are the 4 games with Nova and UCONN and that's it chump.Tell Ricky to play somebody before you ******* start talking smack over here.
First of all Kentucky will as always likely win the SEC again, secondly if you think that the CUSA schedule you have is even close to the Big East schedule your opinion of College basketball matters are highly suspect.

Quote:Not so dumba$$. I sat next to a 40 year Cardinal season ticket holder at the CUSA championship game last spring and asked point blank who Louisville's biggest rival was. Without hestiation he said "Memphis." I said, "What about Kentucky?" He said, "We don't count them. They think we are trash."

I believe he was probably just saying what he thought you wanted to hear. While I am by no means going to say it isnt a rivalry, because it definitely is, the UL-UK rivalry is one of the most passionate rivalries in the entire nation. Probably the only one that could give UNC-Duke a run for its money. I would trade 50 point losses to Memphis for 2 point wins over UK any day of the week.

Just bide your time Tiger fans, we'll be in the same conference again in 4-5 years.

Memphis has this obsession w/ Louisville, but it is not the other way around. Yes we do enjoy putting you in your place but we don't spend every waking moment talking about it. Basically, Louisville has won the mind game by a long shot.

Unless, of course, all those posters with "card" handles are really Memphis fans in disguise. Hell, I have seen more posts from l-yes and cardswin etc... than most Memphians here.

But at least they do not obsess.

I think Memphis is a big rival for Louisvillians that grew up in Louisville as Louisville fans, but the rest the schools fans are definately more lukewarm on the idea of Memphis as a rival. The UK U of L rivalry is definately the bigger and most important of the two to the average fan.

You wanna know the funniest part about this "they think about us all the time" bs? One of "them" took the time to post this thread on one of their boards and it got plenty of responses....All of this over a two second joke which actually had quite a bit of truth in it.

That sure doesn't sound like a 1 seed to me.

But I guess Washington did sound like a #1 seed....yep, we beat the crap out of them on our way to the Final Four.

Enjoy the #4 ranking this week. It'll mean a lot

Yeah...the teams were pretty even at the end of the season. One lost in the N-I-T and one went to the Final Four. SURE!!!! We'll just call it a draw, how bout that? I hope you are a lot better than you were last year! Let's hope Ole Miss or Louisiana Tech doesn't beat the crap out of you again this year.

To interpret what MHSCard says:
To real Louisville fans, Memphis is a rival. To those Wildcat fans that become Cards fans when UK is having a bad year, the UK/Card rivalry is bigger. Good Lord, I can't imagine a Card fan admitting that.

That's because Louisville is a boring little suck-ass town with nothing else to to but go to Cards games and sip mint juleps while scooping up horse poop.

I seriously doubt all 23 are solely about Louisville. Louisville is probably mentioned in majority of the threads because those threads probably are listing rankings, RPI's, SOS's (in the case of Loserville, it means same ole 01-scout ), etc. So don't flatter yourself thinking that Memphis fans is obsessed about the Loserville program. 01-wingedeagle

I couldn't care less where any of you folks are seeded, actually, but the point is about Ul's seeding, not Washington's. And the fact still remains that you barely played anyone to deserve higher seeding.

And that's closer to the truth, much like Cal's comments the other day. He didn't say something about UL out of the blue. It fit into the rest of the conversation which happened to be about the games of the night with ranked teams.

And I love these folks acting like if someone did a search on their board that we couldn't find Memphis mentions.

This is the GREATEST thread!!!
This is the GREATEST thread.

It is too bad we don't play any more. However, as I recall, Memphis State left the Metro for the Great Mid-West and there was quite a hiatus then too.

Hopefully, we will get back to playing each other. It will likely take the Big East accepting Memphis as a conference member though before we ever play again.

As I said before, Good Luck to the Tigers. I have no hatred for Memphis, but am glad to beat the Tigers whenever we get the chance.

Clean up the ol' C-USA, but lookout for Houston and as always, keep an eye on UAB.

By the way, we LOVE Milt. Who can blame a guy for getting a job! Attached (I'll try) is a photo or at least a link

http://www.geocities.com/cardmark1/MiltNFriends.JPG

to the photo. It is of Milt, Robbie Valentine, & Wiley Brown at the Final 4 party in St. Louis last year. Believe me, Milt is welcome with open arms anytime at Louisville!
