Quote:When it comes down to it, a Louisville Cardinal season ticket holder gets 5 good games. 5 out of 21. The rest are garbage.

You play 4 ranked teams this year...3 at home. So how is that a better schedule?

Quote:that would be last season...we were ranked #25 for a couple of weeks after beating Ole Miss then UT-Chatt and Arky State.

but i'm sure you already knew that right...looeyvul fans

Uhhh...yeah, that was my point. That is exactly what I said. You have been ranked in the AP top 25 for ONE WEEK for the entire history of the poll.

I was noticing the bowl lineup in the paper this morning. Interesting thing about the payouts. The Liberty Bowl is at 1.5M. The Gator Bowl is 1.6M. I would have thought it was a much bigger payout.

Of course 4 of our 5 bowl games this year are minimum payout bowls, so that doesn't say much for Confusa. Next year we add the Houston Bowl at 1.2M though.

Not a flame toward UL. Just found it interesting that the move to the nBE gets them in a similar payout bowl game. Of course, they get the BCS welfare check too.

Jacksonville in Jan > Memphis in late December and it's not even close.

actually we will have played 5 ranked teams this year, not counting houston if they end up being ranked. only 2 of the 5 are played in memphis. the other three were road games, and with the dookie game being on espn and announced by dookie v., the tigers might as well have been playing at cameron. get your facts straight before you start posting anything on a another team's board...@$$.

Memphis has a decent OOC schedule, but you don't play Kentucky(I know I know but they will still mop up those SEC teams you guys played like they do every year every year), UConn twice, Villanova twice. Duke is your only game bigger than those and you lost that one so what is Calapari thinking talking smack? Like he didn't schedule Lamar and Jackson State. You're new league was put together to be a football league and basketball suffered, face it Louisville needed those cupcakes to develope the rebuilding team they have before going to play in a tough Basketball league. "Cryin'" John is just whining like always.

Yes I must say it is a horrible time to be a Cardinal fan.

We get to play a top 15 team in Jacksonville on Jan 2.

Out basketball team is ranked #5 in the nation.

We have great conference matchups with teams that are also ranked in the top 5, and apparently someone thinks they are good games because we are on College Gameday twice this season.

Oh yea, we get a 4 million dollar BCS check at the end of the year.

Yep, I wish we were Memphis, you all have, ummmm, yea well, lets just say I'm glad im a UL fan...

Enjoy that ass kickin on the 2nd and I guess it's better saying your team is ranked in the top 5 then saying you have a top 5 team.

Glad your happy.

This is what kills me since I've moved to Memphis 4 years ago...the obsession with Louisville. Freaking Louisville. We can't quit talking about them. Cal can't quit talking about them. Dude from the Highland Hundred was on 790 a few weeks ago talking about the 43,000 at the UM-Marshall game and says "hey, 43,000 is more than Papa Johns seats!" Who the hell cares who Louisville is playing? Who the hell cares how much their stadium seats? WHY THE OBESSION?

Did we not lose to Louisville 2 out of 3 times last year, twice on our home floor? Did they not go to the Final four, something we haven't done in over 20 years? How many times has Memphis beat them in football over the last 10 years? Hell, their worst attended basketball game is better than our best. The obession with Louisville is disgusting regardless, but especially when we don't have one accomplishment greater than them. I mean, we're finally in the top 10 and they're still ranked higher. We've got zero national championships, we've got zero new years day bowls. But we do lead the nation in most excuses as to why fans don't show up for games...."it's on TV," "I don't want to want Jackson St," "it's cold out," "it's a holiday weekend, I've got family stuff."

The schedules are the same strength after it's all said and done. Alabama sucks (they lost to TEMPLE yesterday and were beaten by Big East bottom dweller Notre Dame earlier this week). CUSA sucks, but fortunately Cal and RC put some teams on early.

And by the way, I thought it was "locked and loaded" that they had to play us in basketball this year? I guess Jurich and Pitino got another one over on us. Pitiful.

Memphis fans you better hang on to these games in December, becuase when conference season comes around, you all will be forgot about by playing the likes of Tulsa.

Tune in Saturday on CBS, and to college gameday when it starts to see UL and what big time college basketball is all about.

Your first sentence says it all as to why you don't understand the strong rivalry between Memphia and Louisville - - from the Missouri Valley days to the Metro days to the Conference USA days. Longtime Memphians know what the fuss is all about and lived through it all. You had to live through it to appreciate it.

That's your problem. You haven't been here long. You have no clue about the passion and the hatred our two schools have for each other. Unless you were there in the 1970's, when a brawl broke out on the court between Tigers and Cards, and a Nashville police officer actually reached for his pistol, then you aren't qualified to talk about our rivalry with Louisville.

Were you there in the Mid-South Coliseum, when a Memphis fan threw a switch blade at Denny Crum's face as he walked out onto the court?

Were you in Freedom Hall when the refs screwed us out of the Metro Conference Championship, by calling a hand-check foul on Andre Turner, which led to Milt Wagner sinking two free-throws with no time remaining to beat us?

How about our 1995 NCAA tournament game in Dallas, when we absolutely blew Louisville off the floor, and a Card fan dumped a cup full of ice on my mom's head as the final horn blew?

Unless you were present for any of those events, then your opinion on the Memphis-Louisville rivalry is fairly insignificant. It would be like moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan this year, then griping on the message boards that you don't understand what the "big deal" is between the Wolverines and Ohio State.
