MONROE, La. — Arkansas State wasn’t the passing football team it had been the first three weeks of the season. So it turned to a running game to bide some time and set the table for later.
When later came, ASU quarterback Nick Noce put the ball in the air, in his receivers’ hands and in the end zone to win for the first time this season.
Arkansas State overcame a sluggish start and a sluggish game all around to slip past Louisiana-Monroe for a 28-21 victory in the Sun Belt Conference opener Saturday night at Malone Stadium.
