We've heard only three names floated in the press with respect to the JMU job -- Seth Greenberg, Mike Jones and Bob Richey. Additionally, we've seen interest from Tim Legler. We've also read that JMU is only interested in candidates with head coaching experience, so that eliminates Legler and Jason Williford.

We're not getting Shaka Smart or Brad Stevens. Just look at what those guys are getting paid! Beyond that, it's absurd to consider them as viable options.

Last I checked, we're not getting Tony Bennett, Chris Beard, Tom Izzo or Jay Wright, guys I would put in my top five current coaches. Who's the fifth? Probably the Gonzaga coach and Kansas's Bill Self (okay, a top six). Coach K is excellent, but also gets the best talent, along with Calipari. I'd probably put Roy Williams with that second group.

Just for the record, Goodman (a college basketball lifer) had Jones and Richey in his list of top up and coming coaches in the country last fall. That list also included Becker at Vermont, Wes Miller at UNCG and Nathan Davis at Bucknell, all names we've talked about, along with the ETSU coach and others. Looks like we're talking about the right guys, plus former head coaches JT3 and the Ole Miss Coach (Kennedy). The UC Irvine coach has also been mentioned. Shane Mettlen smartly mentioned the Florida International head coach.

If anyone is bothering to read this at this point, 110 pages in, who else specifically would people like to see? And yes, Pitino is now not an option. Just trying to sum up where we might be at the moment. I remember during the search that resulted in Brady, I believe it was the JMU Philly guy that had floated his name.

I'll float another name that's been mentioned probably at some point in this thread, trying to think outside the box perhaps. I think he's a good coach, but will have better opportunities going forward. Ken Atkinson. Along those same lines (and mentioned on here before), here's another one: John Beilein. Both have ties to the CAA, of course.

Again, who specifically and realistically should JMU be looking at? Maybe someone more tech savvy than me can create an online poll with options and write-in candidates. Might be pretty interesting.
