I think I’d slightly prefer Richey but I’d be happy with either one.

Jones took over a program in bad shape and it took some time but he turned it around. Hopefully it wouldn’t take as long as JMU since he wouldn’t be dealing with NCAA sanctions and losing a couple scholarships. He’s made the tournament once in nine years, but only the last six of those seasons were after the return of full scholarships. The turnaround was really kinda completed for the past three seasons and he’s been to the tournament one out of those three.

Richey took over a program that was already winning and has kept it a consistent winner at a very high win percentage in a tougher conference. He’s only been a head coach for three years but has a win percentage of .759 in a conference that’s been ranked higher than the CAA for two out of the three years he’s been there. He hasn’t been to the NCAA tournament.

Richey is a guy that it really seems like people expect to be on a pretty fast track to a P5 job and wouldn’t expect JMU to have any chance of landing him. Jones you also see a lot of people that would expect his next step to be a bigger one but not as much as with Richey.

It’ll be interesting to see if any other names like Wes Miller especially come up if they’re passed up for bigger openings, obviously Wake Forest specifically when it comes to Miller. Turner I don’t think is going to be close to possible regardless of how the other pieces might fall.
