Yes, I think most of our fans would agree with you. I doubt our admin would have to pay him more than 400k, if that. Hoping they spend more for a bigger name and hire.

Mettlen’s list was a little weak and did not include Greenberg or Wes Miller or the other SoCon coaches mentioned as candidates on sports radio here.

Mettlen in general is weak and unimpressive. Including his time in Charlottesville. I think he sees JMU as beneath his effort.

Regarding Mike Jones, I wonder at what point is Radford going to grow tired of him using every season as leverage for RU to up the ante to keep him there. That is, of course, if there is any smoke to rumors he might be headed to JMU. I think we can and should do better. Though, like Seth Greenberg, we could do a heckuva lot worse (as we've seen the last 3 decades).

I certainly don't see Mike Jones being a catalyst to get JMU folks out lighting up the ticket office for season tickets next season. That doesn't mean he can't/won't/wouldn't be successful, btw. Just not a hire that I think is going to make folks go... AMAZING!

Yeah I’d pretty much agree with this, he wouldn’t be at the top of my list but it would be a solid hire if the guys who would be at the top of my list aren’t interested.

As for Longhorn’s thoughts on the compensation, I’ll be very surprised but very happy if you’re anywhere close to right LH. I do think JMU is gonna up the pay quite a bit, but I don’t think we’re gonna see an AAC level salary. I sure hope one of us is right!
