As the coach search begins, what is JMU’s goal for the program?
It seems to me that every year is NCAA playoff or bust. Pass or fail.
68 of 350+ teams make it every year so about 20% consider it a successful year. In the one bid CAA only 1 of 10 make it so 10% chance of success. Never say never, but I don’t see the CAA as it is configured having a 2nd team in the same year. The league is full of mediocre and bad programs.

If the NCAA playoff is indeed the goal, then that will lead us to an appropriate pay scale to get it done. The top pay in the CAA is Earl Grant at $650k and he has made only one NCAA appearance in 6 years. It seems like $650k should be the floor for this hire. Programs that make the NCAA tournament more frequently pay their coaches more than that. Does JMU want to win bad enough? We shall see.
