I was very skeptical of these expectations. It wasn't like the year before the team finally turned a corner. The only thing that changed was a recruiting class many had dubbed his best and absolutely full of talent.
To go from bottom 4 in the league to 4th on what was based on a Freshman class in hindsight was a silly prediction.
To be fair to Rowe, this team should never have been predicted that high and I'd really like to know who it was that actually thought this team deserved a first place vote.

Ok, then look at the trajectory of league wins from his first year to now. 7 wins, 6 wins, 6 wins and currently at 2. He'd have to win all 5 remaining games just to match the first year total in league wins...which means no improvement at best and more likely a downward trend. I look at league play as the main barometer of success because out of league play can greatly vary depending on scheduling.
