JMU will hire a new coach at the end of the season. Be prepared to be underwhelmed again though. Look at every hire in the CAA over the last decade. Name one that jumped off the page at you day one? The latest is the assistant GMU coach that went to W&M. Did that hire scream big time hire to anyone?

JMU will try again to pick among a pool of unproven assistants and head coaches who were fired from elsewhere. The choice will be an educated guess. We will watch and hope over the next four years that the new guy will finally be the one. If he is successful, he will be poached for more money and JMU will be back to square one. This is life when you are not Kansas, Kentucky or Duke.

Underwhelming hire will lead to underwhelming ticket sales and underwhelming basketball related donations.

There is no reason we should not be the top Men's basketball program in the CAA. We will now have the best facility by far, and there is no better athletic fan support in the CAA for top programs.

We are not Kansas, Kentucky, or Duke and basketball, and we're not Bama, LSU, or ND in football, but we still get more than 20k coming to regular season games.

Women get twice the amount of fans in "actual" attendance each game.

Nation - for as proud of JMU as I know you are, I just don't get why you don't see the opportunity that exists in Men's basketball for JMU.

I honesty believe the difference between bottom half CAA JMU basketball team, and a basketball program the quality of our Football program is the difference of $1,000,000 a year in lost combined ticket revenues, current year donations, and future donations from students currently at JMU that develop an interest in JMU basketball.

How may students from the last 20 years go back to Harrisonburg for a basketball game? Most that even talk about doing so are from the Lefty & Lou era. What students from the last 20 years even care that the Men's program is bad?

A top Mid-major program at JMU would get an attendance average of over 5,000 a game. Establish a program that contends every year, and makes the tournament 2 of every 5 or 6 years. Once or twice get to the real second round of the NCAA tournament each decade. These are challenging attainable goals for JMU.

Current direction of JMU - Build the top Arena in the CAA and let's see if we can find a diamond in the rough. Houston was not a diamond the rough. At the Citadel he made and FCS playoffs and won at South Carolina. Cig was not a diamond in the rough. He turned a fellow conference member around haven taken them twice to the playoffs. Were those hires comparable to Lou?

What I'm hoping for is a solid top up and comer like Wes Miller, or a older name coach who at one time had some sort of success at a G5 school.
