Delusional. You're talking about a conference that will soon have Berkeley and Stanford whose academic snobbery killed the Pac-12.
Agree. All one needs to do is look at their adds this year and see that the ACC will be the home of mostly FBS elite academic schools. I’d bet on a school like Vanderbilt winding up in that league before schools like JMU, App or ECU.
Elite academic schools playing in today’s version of ‘amateur’ college athletics? That’ll be a disaster.

I used to think that, but if they lose FSU, UNC, UVA, Clemson and maybe Duke or VT, then what? If they lose both Virginia schools, do they just concede the state? W&M and Richmond have better academics, but their athletics are abysmal. That leaves JMU—good school with good athletics.
I don’t think JMU is going to the ACC. But weirder stuff is happening in college sports.
The ACC has the most potential to "get weird" in realignment. I think it is one of the reasons they started building up the walls with Stanford, Cal, and SMU. They really don't want to dip into the East Coast well to reload when the reaper comes for them.
I think their line in the sand going forward will be academic in nature. Wouldn't be surprised to see them target Tulane, Rice, Temple, and USF if they start losing programs.
When the smoke starts to clear you could be left with something like:
East:
Duke, Wake, Temple, Pitt, VaTech, Boston College.
West:
SMU, Cal, Stanford, Tulane, Rice, USF.
Duke being left in what is clearly no longer a basketball power league would be the most ironic part to me. It would still be a solid hoops league, but closer to the WCC than what the ACC is today.
From all my Hokie friends here locally... there is 0 chance VA Tech sticks around. They have their sights set on the Big 12 and replacing UVA with WVU permanently. UVA and UMD can renew their annual who gives a damn game in the Big 10.
I am sure the fans would prefer that. I think they are likely to find a home in the Big XII. I also think there is a chance the Big XII gets too large and splits into East/West for at least Olympics.
I figure Virginia, UNC, Clemson, and Florida State are near locks for the P2.
A handful of others might sneak in as well.
Louisville, Miami, NC State, Duke, VaTech, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Boston College, Syracuse, Wake, SMU, Stanford, Cal... Lot of teams left for the Big XII to consider. They said no to Washington State and Oregon State. Who else doesn't make that cut? And again, how big is too big?

Sounds like a version of the fantasized "Magnolia League" (Southern Ivy) from days gone by.

Perhaps the loser of UNC/UVA going to Big Ten makes a push for this type of League? Maybe get Vandy to see the light that they have little chance to succeed in SEC football and join up too? I realize there is a lot of money involved, but how long do they continue to get bludgeoned in football before they throw up their hands? Stranger things have happened.

Any other program might balk at the idea of leaving all that money, but it isn't like Vandy really needs it. They might welcome a league of peers that face similar academic rigors vs. going up against programs who "didn't come to play school" all the time.

No one has commented on it in 3 days... shouldn't you worry about your own school?

I guess since we all think the same, I can answer for the collective mind.
The answer is NO.
I was over it before the game ended.
I love how we are getting blamed for these threads persisting, while other fan bases are the ones keeping them alive.
Don't have to look too far to see the proof.

Naa, I'm not worried. The last 4 games we were down to our 3rd, 4th string QB. Basically, playing our 2nd in many spots. Terrible, misgivings the last 1/3rd of the season. Usually, that sort of bad luck doesn't happen too often thank god.

Apparently Marshall whiffed on signing the Washington backup QB Dylan Morris. Visited Huntington and then decided to sign with JMU. Maybe the Herd can sign McCloud out of the portal.

This thread is going on so long I thought JMU was getting selected again for the same bowl two years in a row.

Good to see you laughing now after getting egg on your face claiming their was no chance McCloud would leave.
