Went on way too long. I turned the channel.

03-tired What did I miss?? Please, someone find the clip for future enjoyment. I love a good cringeworthy moment...

Their DC rapped about JMU's manifest destiny, coming back from commercial, for what seemed at least 60 seconds. It was painful to watch. It wasn't that he was bad, it was like watching a high school talent show in a town where no one ever escaped and made it to the big time.

It's at 30 minutes 9 seconds of the ESPN+ OnDemand replay.

It’s so funny reading all the comments online since getting home vs being on the road.

We had a blast. That game was more fun than the games in Frisco if you ask me. End result wasn’t what I’d hoped for but about what I expected given a lot of the factors going into it. Air Force was really good. JMU’s secondary and linebackers never adjusted to the speed they run that offense. Losses along offensive line finally added up against JMU as well. All in all a good effort though. Game was entertaining, good crowd considering the weather, and wasn’t really out of reach until late. Fort Worth was pretty cool too.

Long story short; had a blast at our first bowl game. Hopefully next year we’re able to get something a little further away from Christmas Eve since I’ve already been told I’m out of that happens again after this year haha.

RE: James Madison vs Air Force Armed Forces Bowl
It was going to be a tough row to hoe regardless. Air Force had the team that went 8-0 back healthy, and we had our o-line coach and a PE teacher from Harrisonburg High School. That it was only a 10-point game was remarkable.

No excuses. Air Force has been, and still is, pretty darn good. They beat us fair and square, and a little black and blue. In the end, we still had the best season in the SBC, all due respect to Troy. Let’s meet somewhere, anywhere next year, Trojans, and have it out in the CCG.

I went to all three of our national championship games, and wouldn't trade those experiences. However, there is nothing like going to that first bowl game. It is a unique experience that the natties really couldn't match in terms of the overall experience beyond the game itself.

You guys met up with the real AF team that was in contention for the NY6 game until things went south for them. I think the league is very interested to see how things proceed with the new coach. He seems to be a quality hire. The question I suppose is how does the program respond in the short run to the departures. I have no doubt long term you will continue be successful.

Unfortunate low note to end the season on, but still an incredible season all things considered.

Do the loses count against JMUs record since it wasn't a real season?

Maybe not, because to the NCAA JMU’s season stats didn’t count (which is ridiculous). 03-banghead

Glad this absurd “transition” business is now over for JMU. Hopefully the NCAA will wake-up and eliminate this “rule” penalizing the athletes.

To be fair they were down like 7 coaches. That’d be difficult for any of us.

Shittt like this is so funny ...App had nothing to be loud about all year ...except:

- beating JMU in OT
- backdooring a JMU asterisk into the CCG
- blaming the refs for losing to Troy
- winning a bowl game

Be better guys .. we're all fans here and respect your bowl record, but the idea that you have proven something by beating a MAC team is entertaining.

Hopefully JMU will lead that effort with the same resources they used for the waiver before the App State loss. It’s the right thing to do.

I completely agree. The experience of the event itself was just so much better than any of the 3 title games I attended. (04, ‘16, ‘17 Tthere was never down time during the game. From lead up days, to pregame, to the game itself… it was just so much more well put together and organized than anything those FCs games ever did. Of course it probably helped I had great seats and wasn’t in a soccer stadium 30 yards from the sideline even at midfield.

A bowl game is an event. Playoffs are just another game. The cities that host the games try to make the fans welcome. When a school host a playoff game the city does nothing. Its just one game. Several fans can go so you are with people wearing the same colors that's on your side. Playoffs if you win is game after game and most people have a hard to going to all of them. That includes home games. We aren't the NFL so why have one champion. You can have 41 champions with happy fans.

Never paid attention to bowl games to this year, but basically every team is playing guys who never played during the regular season. It is just a glorified exhibition game with some parties for the fans.

What matters more is the chance to get young players experience and extra practices for the next year. Wish we had won, but hard to do that when most of the roster and coaches have changed in the last few weeks.

RE: James Madison vs Air Force Armed Forces Bowl
Not sure we would have won, but certainly would have liked to see how this team and staff remained intact. I do believe we would have had a much better chance.
But that didn't happen. I am grateful to the staff that chose to stay and help get the team ready. Guys came out of retirement to help prepare the team.
It's unfortunate that we lost many to the transfer portal, but we aren't the only ones. It is what it is.
Proud of the players that stayed and the fans that were able to make it.

The new staff certainly has a challenge ahead of them. The Sun Belt is going to be strong next year.
So glad the transition is finally over.
