Just saw that the Horton Hotel just opened and has a pretty cool looking rooftop bar.

Don't know if any of you have tried Moe's BBQ or not but, for a chain (albeit a small chain), they are excellent. Good wood smoke flavor on meat and incredible sides. I first tried one in Orange Beach, Ala , then found one in Hendersonville, NC and now they have one in Greenville, SC near downtown area. Really good Q! Wish someone would franchise one in Boone!

Here's the site for the new place:

https://www.howardstation.com/

Looks like it'll be nice but I have a feeling that it will disappoint many of the old BBQ codgers.

Thanks for sharing. I grew up in an iconic NC BBQ town but have lived in Charlotte for 15 years. The best ones in Charlotte always pay homage to the pioneers. Some even hire old school pit masters. If these guys do that, it will work. If they don't incorporate tradition into their vision, it might struggle. #1 rule. There better be the smell of smoke and the sound of a chopping block.

I agree. I grew up on Lexington style but enjoy it all, even the mustard based crap in SC. :>} There is no such thing as bad BBQ, some’s just better than others.

I guess it takes "BBQ snobs" for it to taste good. There is nothing wrong with appreciating the tradition of something. Especially when it results in a quality product.

I'm not sure about the "communists" part, but I'm with you on the rest. I lean toward Lexington Style but I love a good Eastern style as well. Honestly, if it's cooked well (smoked) the sauce isn't even important and I tend to use very little anyway.

I think it depends on the restaurant. If someone says "I'm serving xxxxxx style" then they need to be held to a certain standard, but if they're not going for a specific style then I agree and don't care what's in the sauce (or what meat it is) if the Q is tasty.
