The level of professionalism in both football and basketball are already way higher than they were 4 years ago. The previous 15 years of athletics at Tulane were really, really bad. Like probably one of the top 10 most mismanaged programs. I still have no idea how the previous administration tricked the AAC into letting us in.
In everything other than baseball we're trending in the right direction. Results should show soon.
I’ve had the same thought. What it basically boils down to is that UCF’s then-President, Dr. John C. Hitt, is a Tulane alum (master’s and doctorate) and he pitched us hard to Aresco and the other people in the room.
The combined impact of the “Athletic Review” of 2003 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 was simply devastating. The “Review” was an attempt to do to us what Ray Watts did to UAB in 2014. Thankfully, the process leaked out to the public in time (*Barely*) for the good guys to mobilize and prevent the intended-result from taking place. But it couldn’t prevent the huge hit we took in recruiting (coaches and players). And then the evacuation of New Orleans about 2 years later. That long-term impact was terrible and we’re just now overcoming it.
Ahh so we’re back to attendance talk now... Godwin’s law of internet sports trolls...
Tulane got a bowl game. Despite all the negativity, they set a goal and achieved it. Future is bright, with most skill players returning next year. End this garbage troll thread.
What happened to Tulane Mens Basketball? They even lost to SE Louisiana?
I admit I want to be a Tulane fan because of this American Conference and I might even attend Tulane's Bowl game in Orlando. (I live in Central Florida)
But comon, with NBA veteran coach, you can not lose to SE Louisiana.

Dunleavy has been a massive disappointment.
After losing the UL-L game I've stopped watching.
So many wins left for the taking in years 1 & 2, with very, very simple coaching adjustments. I have no idea how this guy coached in the NBA for so long (where had a .461 win%). He seems to be able develop some strong shooters but his teams are mentally weak and he doesn't have the ability to adjust as a coach.

The jerseys didn't make them lose the lack of coaching or talent brought in by said coach is what didn't put the ball in the hoop enough.

We'll be going to the Big12 before you little kitty.
Yup, Tulane forming the Big 12 along with Nichols State, SE Louisiana, NW Louisiana, NE Louisiana , Loyola of New Orleans, South Alabama, West Florida, Nagadoches State, Central Arkansas, Pine Bluff and Henderson State. Enjoy!
In the last 9 days Willie Fritz has added his 5 best recruits of this cycle, in yesterdays updated ranking 247 had Tulane jump 20 spots!
He promised us 25 recruits this year so we're only about half way there!
If he continues recruiting the recent talent level, we'll be back towards the top of recruiting rankings in AAC again this year. And best of all last years class BEASTED as freshman. Proving the whole "come here and play right away instead of wasting away on some p5 bench" narrative true.
After our bowl win I figured I'd just be happy til the fall. Today woke up to find out we lost to the worst team in div1 basketball....sorry everyone. This will be our AD's first big challenge. Let's hope he does the right thing and cuts the Dunleavy experiment NOW

Yet, we are still the only football team to not those the bowl game.

Dunleavy’s % in the NBA does not reflect that he accepted the Bucks job and the Clippers job when they were among the league’s most hopeless and dysfunctional franchise. He’s no Red Auerbach but he was also NBA COY.
Of course the pro game and the college game are vastly different for a hundred different reasons. I viewed his hiring at Tulane as a risk/gamble, but one that was worth taking, given that our MBB was in hospice care and nobody wanted to take the job. But after 74 games it’s become clear that we need to go in a different direction. After losing to the worst team in the SWAC, Dunleavy probably recognizes this fact himself.
Tulane is a great partner and pretty darn good at a lot of sports in our conference... basketball.. did not see it coming much like Cincinnati did the
Tubberville years coming or the end of the O’Leary years...I think coaching takes a lot of work and coasting is not allowed... I love all teams in this conference and this thread is appalling... I actually see some of the same characters on here trying to get rid of UCONN..(football).. some of you guys are pathetic...each of you will have down years.. and ebb and flow of coaching successes... everybody should appreciate each other.. who do you want? Besides the whole SEC to come here... geez
