Can you imagine the NCAA Tournament excluding teams like Butler, Xavier, Creighton, Gonzaga, George Mason, Davidson, etc. just because they played in a weak conference?

The tournament's success and ratings are literally BUILT off teams like that. Everybody loves an underdog.

RE: Does the CFP crown a legitimate national champion?
Aren't we talking about deciding a Division 1 champion? Aren't G5 conferences D-1 just exactly the same as P5 conferences? Then WHY the he11 does anyone accept that every P5 champ should get a spot in a playoff, but the same shouldn't apply to the G5??? What is it which distinguishes a P5 school from a G5, and makes those schools, simply because they are in a particular conference, particularly more worthy? Is Indiana or Kansas entitled to something more than Central Florida, Boise State, Houston or WMU, since these G5 schools should need to do more than just win their conference?

How about we all just end the two class system in college football? We are all D-1, so lets all act like it. And its one thing trying to argue this point with P5 school fans; we shouldn't even need to convince G5 school alumni. Come on folks!
