All-Time Best 5 EMU MBB
We kind of discussed this in another thread, but for fun how about giving it a shot:
(In no particular order, except maybe oldest to most recent):
1). George Gervin,
2). Kennedy MacIntosh,
3). Earl Boykins,
4). Derrick Dial,
5). JT4
Will Dial and JT4 be the most debated inclusions?

I'm not including JT4 on that list until his team wins a championship. I would add Grant Long though. Possibly Fred Cofield too.

1) I would definitely replace Derrick Dial (who was indeed a great player), with Brian Tolbert. Not even debatable.
2) I will agree with Nickle, replace JT4 with Grant Long. Again, not even debatable.
But as far as Gervin, Boykins, and McIntosh, I think clearly they would make this list.
Derrick Dial is a definite honorable mention along with John Bowler and Lorenzo Neely. Are there others?
I am not ready to include JT4 yet- he plays consistently solid but I have not yet seen him dominate in too many games (not sure if that is his fault, teammates fault, coaches fault).

Who's Cofield?

Played in the league for a little while. Current scout for the Knicks, I believe.

Cofield was a 6'3" brick house. Seriously he could have played LB. I played a pick up game with him once and he was so humble. He played a couple seasons in the NBA. He could dunk it anyway you could imagine. Just an incredible athlete with handles and with a jump shot. He's on the top 5

I'm interested in what others think of Dial vs. Tolbert. They were contemporaries so it is easy to compare.
I assume I was premature in putting JT4 on the squad as he is starting his 3rd year. If we have this discussion in 12 or 24 months then who knows.
Grant Long played right before I started following EMU again (a hiatus in the 80s). I remember him more as a NBA player.

As far as JT4, there is a 'recency' effect: I watched him totally dominate last Wednesday. Think he combined for what 40 points/rebounds.

Where does Marcus Kennedy fit? He had a very short career with us, but Gervin's time here was short too.
Marcus led the league in scoring and rebounding and led the team to the sweet 16.

I thought about him and I consider his season one of the best in the history of EMU MBB.
That was when I began to follow EMU MBB again.
Too bad in those days there was no EMU or MAC television to speak. Otherwise, John Fountaine would be raving about him and he'd have some ESPN Top 10s.

BTW, I believe folks thought Marcus was really about 5' 5"+. Amazing what a 'short' player could do down low.

Some other names Earle Higgins actually based on scoring raven lee Carlos medlock Higgins is the only one that might make a top 5

Agree, but look at what Gervin did: 29 ppg. And, of course, his ABA/NBA career colors things a lot, too.

Forgot about him. I'd say honorable mention. In addition to the stats, he was MAC POY according to google. Definitely a major component on EMU's best team.

I know it does not fit, but can we add John Fountsibe to the list?!?! Loved listening to that guy.

We have had some of the great announcers. John Fountain. Chad and Sean, excellent team.
And, of course, great announcers for football. Even going back to the days of Dr. Tom Slade.

Harvey Marlatt from the late '60s played with the Pistons for 2+ seasons.
I don't think anyone has mentioned the Thomas twins. Carl was a bit better.
