Its on him what he does. Would you rather be the big fish in the small pond or the little fish in the big pond? He could have a long career here or a short one somewhere else.

I've worked small market radio for 30 years. These two, based on what I've heard when I've listened, do not belong on the platform they have. They should consider themselves VERY lucky to have the gig they have.

Entercom, Cumulus, and iHeart are all struggling. Eventually, Entercom will cut cost and go with a national show. Probably after the CBS Radio merger.

It doesn't make sense to have a locally produced show in this market.

It's inevitable. You are just seeing how people act on a sinking ship. They want to go national or regional. Cover a larger team, anything to save themselves.

It's pathetic.

I concede that Martin is conceited.

I don't listen to any talk radio but am alway curious why people listen to a host, then complain about what that host said, then keep listening. I believe they are doing exactly what that person wants them to do. Listen, complain, but keep listening.

Hey John! Don't let all this talk get you down. They spelled your name right and all publicity is good publicity.

Eh, he's a media guy, his job is to capture attention, get ratings, etc.

If we're talking about him, he's won. Good for him.

I like the Memphis sports media, but to be clear, I am in NYC, so my media takes from them are twitter / written, I don't listen to Memphis sports radio.

Smith, Martin, Geoff are all fine with me on the twitter / written context...

RE: John Martin....
First of all, Martin is a Memphis Alum who wants nothing more than for Memphis to be back where they used to be when he was a kid. He grew up on the Coach Cal teams (I was lucky enough to be a student during the Cal days, 2003-2007) so he knows them as that kinda program (one w a lot of winning). He wasn't saying anything that wasn't true. And he wasn't saying anything to disparage Memphis. Period.
