Ehh seems like a misunderstanding. I think hes saying that UT should respect the job that norvell did in Memphis and he could be a viable answer at UT. You don't want him to leave however if he does leave you want him to get a job where he could succeed and get notoriety
Now... WHY do we want that?

If you read what I said, we all want him to stay however if he leaves, you'll want him to do well. I think most would agree it would be weird for you to want him to do poorly if he left...

RE: John Martin....
Fwiw. I think Jason Smith is great. Ask great questions and did a great job on the Tiger Beat for years. Martin comes across as extremely arrogant and conceeded. I also don’t think Norvell is gonna be here after this year but i didn’t all along. Just the way Martin comes across on radio. Maybe it’s just me.

I just assumed he would be here for 4 years. Personally, I would be suspect of ANYONE who has such a small sample size.

i understand how the market works. i cant speak for you, but i would leave my current job, which im happy with, for the same job with higher pay and more benefits. seems logical honestly. i dont blame Cal, just like i didn't blame Fuente, and i wont blame Norvell. you think ASU was happy to see him go? im sure they enjoyed being a top 25 offense with norvell and since have dropped to the 80s last yr and 40s this year.

I’ve just kinda accepted it as “way of life in a non P5”. You do well. If you get more money at a bigger school in a bigger conference you leave. I know not all P5 jobs are tremendous and I mean if it was Ole Miss or Tennessee I’d be upset but that’s just part of being a Memphis fan. I totally would understand UT and I’d hate it just because i can’t stand them but it would be a good hire. I think they’re clearly gonna aim higher though. I hope they hire another Butch Jones and continue to suck for years.

The only small crowds were during nasty weather. Other than those 2 games, we've had fantastic crowds. Martin and Calkins had similar childhoods. Bullied a lot. Ignored. Now trying to have a voice and make names for themselves. That's why they clicked so well together on the show. Got faces for radio. Think about it. Don't worry about it.

Pay wasn't the reason they left. Memphis offered Cal more than KY.

I'm using that as an example. If you're honestly trying to argue staying at Memphis vs Kentucky for bball is a better idea, you're being naive. even as a fan, you have to understand reasonable moves.

Oh no I am not trying to argue staying at Memphis over KY at all. In fact, just the opposite. KY offered things that money can't buy. In Memphis, Cal was king. At KY Cal is king all over the country. The prestige is boundless for him at KY and truth be told, Cal is the perfect fit for KY. He can handle the media, the fans, the recruits and win enough to sort of keep everyone content. Even when he doesn't he has a top recruiting class coming in to buy himself more time.

Whoever gave him a three-hour show should be sued for malfeasance. Seriously, he's awful. I wonder if he got his pay check from Austin Nichols yet.
