Bono is Enos II
Pretty much been entrenched in the middle of the pack this decade. Like every class Bono has had he gets a few decent players whose dad's played at Central, then he cobbles together a class. Sadly, Lester cleaned his clock in 17 with only 30 days to do it. Totally blowing his doors off in 18, going 6-0 in head to heads.
The rent-a-QB might buy him another year, but as long as he keeps recruiting like this he'll be on borrowed time with the new AD.

I am still wondering how Heeke, or whatever there old AD's name is, got a PAC10 job based on his "achievements at CMU. What did the Chips accomplish under the coaches he hired?

Good interviewer. Has that polished slicked back look of a natural BSer. Probably spent 80% of the interview talking about his days a Oregon hanging with Phil Knight.
He can talk about Butch, wrasslin success, Marcus Keene, Antonio Brown. Plenty of directions he could use to dodge his actual resume.

RE: Bono is Enos II
In terms of Bono being Enos when it comes to coaching/recruiting, you're probably right.
As for the type of human they are, Bonomego is on a whole different level. I've met both, and Enos was a self-absorbed prick. Bono is a good guy. Cares about his players, school, and community.
Were he not the coach of CMU, I'd be rooting for him.

Enos figured out what Jay Smith, Keno, Flynn, Debo and even Herb learned in his final years. Attracting kids to Mt. Pee is difficult.
Kelly did it because he'd worked the state for a decade and was a born salesman. Bono is not that guy, and I suspect Enos got tired of selling a place that even he didn't like.

Ummm...you do know Enos' daughter is considering playing basketball at CMU. Visited earlier this month.
While I agree selling CMU is tough, obviously, Enos likes it enough to allow his daughter to seriously consider enrolling.
I also agree Bono is not the man to save CMU football from the train wreck Enos left behind. Let's hope he has a long career in Mount Pleasant and WMU's three game winning streak against the Chippewas grows.

I agree: Bono has a heart for the university Enos didn't. Bono seems like a genuine guy. Enos was a "We go 7-5 and I'm getting hired away."
But I don't think he can rebuild CMU, especially with EMU surging. I think he's largely in over his head, with the whole he can grab some stars, but not enough.
I think Enos's daughter going there has less to do with what Enos thinks of the school, and more "Where can I get the best scholarship?"
Also what makes CMU a hard sell?

Is the old Embers Steakhouse still there?
That would take a little bit of the sting off... (and I do mean "a little.")
