Guessing C-USA has no rules regarding conference teams traveling to FCS schools? If I recall, Sun Belt forbid it.

Did a Sun Belt team do it? Just wondering what prompted the rule...

The only recent example I can think of this happening is when Army played @Yale a couple years ago... But that was for an anniversary game.

ODU was mentioned by the President of the United States today during his commencement speech at Liberty University. You ought to consider yourself damn lucky.

Really? We had better publicity than that(both good and bad) and i and most others don't really care for what he says. May be you should push your AD for scheduling Liberty fumes and wait to see if you feel lucky.

12thmonarch, love you buddy as you are a great fan, but let's leave the politics to the Spin Room. This forum has widely differing political and religious views, and it is sad that all sides would rather denigrate the other side, vice respectfully disagreeing with the ideology and policy of the other side. Did I adore Obama? No. Do I adore Trump? No. Would I have supported a Clinton victory? No. Like many topics, this one is complicated, yet i respect that your political views are as important to you as mine are to me, and I don't immediately disqualify you as someone unimportant because you most likely disagree strongly with my worldview, and would hope for the reciprocal response from you.

And for the record, If ODU makes a good FBS level payday from this, and I get to drive only two hours for an away OOC football game, I am all in!

Smitty, I wasn't actually thinking of replying to him but he got to me when he said "We are lucky that T guy mentioned us during his speech at commencement". I worked for a prominent republican as an IT guy and then i went to work for politico in the same role. I do not have a good opinion about neither frankly no one cares about public well being at least not the middle class America i have seen. I just don't like Liberty and their views and i was okay because there's nothing i can do to convince woody to retract that contract. All good. Anyways Cheers Man.

All good. if you want to venture in those political waters, there are many of us in the Spin Room, and the debate is vigorous.

I'm excited about driving an hour to see myMonarchs play. But we got better publicity from the lion dog than we did from POTUS mentioning our school.

RE: UNT drops games with Army for games with Liberty
Here's some info on how Liberty is scheduling as it moves into FBS.

http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-18/2018-...hedule.php

http://www.fbschedules.com/2017/05/liber...opponents/

Interestingly, they play New Mexico State twice in 2018 and in 2019, a total of four times in two years, with home and home in the same year in both years. They also have some SEC and ACC teams along with BYU in the out years. All in all, it looks to me like they are aggressively making this move to FBS.

Liberty's stadium capacity is 19,200 with plans to expand to 25,000 in the near future.

A better estimate is that LU will expand to 35,000 vs. 25,000. One can expect an official announcement on that soon.

RE: UNT drops games with Army for games with Liberty
Liberty has the money to sweeten the pot to get home and home games with programs that is in need of every dollar they can get. So if a school that was in need of money could get a home and home with Liberty and say a $500k travel fee or a home and home with Western or UNCC or Ark St, etc,...

lot of them are going to take that money and a home and home

Don't know if this is the way Liberty will fill their schedule but they have the money to do it. If they get to 25,000 seats and fill them...it's pays for them to pay other G5 schools. Hell with in the next few years I can see Liberty buying home games and some G5 schools taking it without a return.

A win and a pay check vs a sure loss and a check. Which sounds better?

It's really pretty simple as you clearly stated.

how is that "represented the conference well"?

We brought a large crowd.
We played an entertaining game.
We forced overtime.
And, we did all this with a team that finished the season 1-11 the year before.

Remember, there were 6 C-USA teams that had worse seasons then North Texas. They missed out on the bowl season, so I think we represented the conference better then them. And of the teams that lost their bowl, we are the only C-USA teams that forced overtime. So, that's better then losing in regulation, or getting blown out.

Of the 13 C-USA teams that played football last season, only 4, represented the conference better in the bowls. So, I will say it again... North Texas represented the conference well in the HOD.

I'd say we represented ourselves pretty well all over your ass on your home field.
AAnd you still had a losing record which make you ... that's right, losers.

Yeah, but Mean Joe Green, LOL

ullRobs,

Shouldn't you be out raising bail money for your team?

great come back!

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the ongoing University of North Texas police investigation of the university's men's basketball team.

So why did ODU accept a game at Liberty? They had 1.32 million reasons, it turns out:

Wow... Who do you even support? You can't have too much school pride. You don't even claim your team in you avatar.

I'm glad you enjoyed your regular season victory. Did you get to a bowl? If so, was it as good as the Heart of Dallas Bowl? Didn't think so.Fuel To The Fire

"theboro" is a nickname for Murfreesboro, so I'd say he's a MTSU fan.

Thanks. If so, that means his team got beat down by Hawaii, and probably doesn't need to be calling out other C-USA bowl teams.

Nah, I'm just fine calling out North Texas.
We earned our bowl game. Yeah we lost, but at least we didn't lose to a team we had already beaten.
