It's interesting to watch the team start to take shape. Yeah, we lose out on talent with the Lawsons and Markel leaving, but it looks like we will have better overall depth. Of course, you never know how players will perform at their first taste of D1 ball, and we've got a bunch of players in that situation. Still, I think the JUCO recruiting, mixed with the high school players, is the right path. The transfers mean that we're placing a high level on physical and emotional maturity for this class.

I'm encouraged that Brewton, Davenport, and Thornton were all big time producers and team leaders on the JUCO level. They are at least used to playing a primary role on both ends of the court and being among the leaders on their respective teams. They aren't guys who have coasted in their careers. And it will also be good to have a majority of players who have committed to this coaching staff, and will presumably have bought into what the staff is teaching.

I think that all of the starting spots are up for grabs, except for Martin. It will be an interesting summer and fall.

After that, I don't think anyone knows if this is an NCAA tournament team that can win a game or a sub .500 team.

It could really be anything in that range but generally speaking if something can go wrong, it will.

I don't see real depth, but I do see width. They are filling out the bench this year. Prolly save one scholly, in any case.

We will win a few more games then we lose. BUT I have a feeling we will all enjoy this team much more than last year.

The Lawson's were good but they weren't very endearing.

Sometimes it's more fun to love a team giving it their all and represent our college in a positive manner.

I agree. Good coaches who stay on top of things have pretty much eliminated CURRENT players from doing this mess.

Also, the Tigers job is highly regarded despite what you guys think. Probably Top 30. It is so difficult to hire a name AND successful coach. When Florida hired Mike White, most casual CBB fans said WHO? Even a fair amount of Florida fans were unhappy with the hire.

I think last year reminded us how much outside shooting matters, and I'm hoping someone has been hoisting up a bunch of shots in the off season. I'm also unwilling to depend on previous percentages after being burned by that last season, but I agree with your "who knows" from earlier.

You cannot possibly predict, with any degree of confidence, what a group of guys as undocumented as a bunch of jucos and former high schoolers, who have also never met, will do when you throw them into an unfamiliar situation, close the gym door, and start shaking things up. It could come out like a spewing Coke bottle or like a dry martini.

What a false analogy, typically PL style. You could just as well say UNLV has passes Duke or Kansas by, with a top 15 commitment. Or why not say Central AR passed us by when they signed Scottie Pipens or 100+ such other signings every year? Menzies is from LA and wants to live out West...he killed it at NMSU and will do well at UNLV.
