After the exodus, I think it's all you can do. Almost all of the good freshmen are committed already. Why take a 4 year guy that won't possibly help in the long run?

Rivers will be gone, and some of these guys won't be here. It's just the way it is these days. Hopefully, we'll add a good 2018 class. I don't see a huge problem. My guess is we'll have about 4-5 open scholarships next year or more, depending on how many more we sign this year..

I don't see a problem with the balance. I'd like a quality grad transfer, but there isn't a ton of quality out there.

As with all rumors, confirmations are rare. I have been told by those I trust, that there was a story behind the Stanley offer.

According to the rumor, after the Lawsons left, there were many people upset with Saul on staff and not making any recruiting headways. Tubby told Saul to get a recruit to quiet the chatter. Stanley was then offered a scholarship. It seemed to be an easy win for Saul, but then even more chatter started about someone of Stanley's skillset being offered a scholarship and that particular strategy backfired and interest in Stanley quickly waned.

But who is to know.

Darrington and Hughes would round out the class nicely. That would provide a good Guard to Big Man balance.

Now the targets are likely Usman, the 7-0 kid, 6-9 Brooks, who is tight with Jamal Johnson and Darrington.

If they actually offer Hughes today, he likely signs. I hope that happens because if Darrington was going to sign you figure he would have done it when he was here.
A center, Usman, is a must have IMO and Brooks would be a serious get. Apparently UNC may not offer him again, allegedly, since he signed with Mississippi State earlier then got the release.
