Probably not in the remainder of my lifetime. Same is true of Penn State. And again, within the remainder of my lifetime, the same might also be said of Notre Dame joining the ACC as a full member.
Still, at this point, what would be the pressing need for the ACC to add anyone other than ND, Texas, or PSU?
Of the realistic candidates (listed alphabetically) - Cincinnati, Connecticut, West Virginia - what would be the driving forces that would prompt ACC expansion with any of them? ACCN? Losing current member(s) to SEC or B1G? Football? Basketball?
Under the current conditions with the ACC being Top 3 in both football and basketball, with an ACCN about to launch without any of the three realistic expansion candidates, with the massive headache of scheduling in both major sports with 14/15 members as is, expansion only makes sense if the target is a quality get.
So, until either the landscape changes again and/or ND, Texas, or PSU joins (or joins fully in the case of the Irish), the ACC will remain as is.
It's going to be a dull summer on these boards.
Cheers,
Neil
